My family may be moving to Illinois and I'm trying to gather the most important information...namely how do I register the mopar.

is this rule in place? I'm looking for a way to avoid emissions testing and register with as few restrictions as possible. I don't want the AV plates where you can only go to shows, I'd like to be able to drive more often.

Why would you move into a state that everyone is leaving except those sitting on their *** with their hand out?
I live here and will move out of this state as soon as I retire later in the year.

That being said - most of the state has no emission testing so you can get regular plates ($110 per year) on your cars and drive them how you want to - that's what I have on both of my MOPARS. There are mandatory insurance rules to follow. I'm not sure if Chicago has emission testing or not - way too expensive to live up there.

Check out the cyberdriveillinois.com website - that's the Secretary of State website and you can find out about licensing your vehicles here.

I live outside Chicago and I agree 110% with BBishere2 !!!!!
Nashville is my choice for retirement !

Yeah no it's not my first choice but we will manage. I'm going to work at U of Chicago, so Chicagoland. it's a bit cheaper for us to live in Illinois than in NJ really. I got used to NJ's very relaxed classic car regs and really don't know how it is elsewhere. For all its faults i really like that aspect of NJ. I only pay hagerty insurance, there is no registration renewal and no inspect. My nightmare was getting emissions tests on the 499ci and inspection yearly.

thanks for the info, the EA looks like the right deal. On the bright side it looks like there is a strong Mopar following in Chicago area with some good events.

I was in Sayreville last week for work and have been in other parts of Jersey so you should have no problem with Chicago. Good food in both places and cost of living probably about the same. One thing you will have to pump your own gas. Welcome to my world FBBO buddy.

damn, that's right I forgot all about pumping gas lol. Maybe I need to rethink this move.

the best thing about driving a 70 b body in jersey is confusing the gas attendants. "hey buddy, where's the gas tank." even though its technically illegal, they are more than happy to let me pump my own with the RR's license plate filler neck.

I have put regular plates on my 66 since I was not sure how much I would drive it,Haggerty was the best.

hey metaldad i may start moving right around Carlisle time so i will miss that show unfortunately. I'm thinking of unloading some parts out of the uhaul at carlisle on the way up. Some 4 speed stuff and a 69 383hp, backup motor that i probably won't be able to keep.

Not sure about the costs but maybe the cost pays for the more than 85,000 immigrants living in the U.S. illegally now have Illinois driver's licenses under a new state program.

No emission test. You can get regular plates.Antique plates cars are suppose drivin to shows and parades only. We do have a antique plate now that cost more with no driving restrictions

Well, Welcome to Illinois! The biggest problem I think you'll have is keeping away from all of the
local food. Vienna Italian Beef and Sausage, Our Pizza, Vienna Hot Dogs, Oh Man! If you can,
really check out the neighborhoods you are thinking of moving to. Personally, I would not live
anywhere in Cook County. Good Luck with the move and give us a shout when you hit Town!

Oh dear god, stay away from FIB land! If Trumps wall doesn't get built on the Mexico border I hope it gets built on the Wisconsin/Illinois border

From an Illinois inmate, well done sir.

Sorry, to hear that. I think the only places worse than new jersey, are new York and Illinois. At least California has good weather.

You forgot Krono's Gyro's, Wi. Brick cheese, and good beer.

At least California has good weather.

And that's all they got!
