Import tuners are so ANNOYING!!!

Working at an auto parts store for a few years I can tell you both sides of the coin have annoying people. You get the "ricers" and the "its got a 350 chevy" crowd who you just want to choke. You can come across some that are really know their stuff and have a "clean" car as we say in the tuner world. No stickers, or wings. Just some nice wheels lowered, suspension and some real go fast parts. Its basically enthusiast and wannabe's. I avoid the wannabe's like the plague.

I get these guys at my counter all the time expecting me to know what late model (pic one) Honda Nissan mitsu is gonna work/fit on that 89 blah blah blah w the fart can muffler...

Yeah they run good but there's just no comparison....the Belvedere wins WAY big in the cool factor!

Another car I would die for is a Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4.... Ugh
Neighbor across the street has one....it's always broke. Nice looking tho and I've always liked the look but there's no way I'd want to work on it!

All I want to do is enjoy myself with my cars and anyone that enjoys the same and doesn't want to talk smack is fine in my book but when they act like you have a pile of crap and theirs is best in the world is when I want to see them choke on something.

Interesting thread. For me, imports have no soul. You can get them to go plenty fast, you can mod them like there's no tomorrow. I've owned mostly imports in my life- one of the best cars I ever had was an '02 Acura RSX. The gearshift on that thing was so amazingly smooth, the whole car was a dream to drive, and I never modded it one bit. But that being said, imports mostly look the same, drive the same, sound the same. I don't have a problem with people modding them out as long as they're not a-holes. But the jackasses I see racing each other on the highway, endangering others by driving like idiots, those are the people I hate. I call 911 on those morons- if you want to race, do it at night or at the track where no one's around. I don't see muscle cars pulling stunts like that where I live.

Guess it comes down to the wow factor. I've seen insanely tricked out Supras fly by, and I barely shrug. But when I saw an all black '69 Charger shoot by my house the other day, my eyes popped outta my head. Imports just don't look the part.

Cars is cars is cars. The 50's hotrodders said the same thing about the muscle cars and their hippy drivers.

LMAO! I live in import car world... Yes you can certainly bag on any tuner you want... its not just about power its about style as well as the sound of a V8 which they all try and emulate with their fart can mufflers. Yes they can be fast but who gives a fck... tiny compact made for people under 5'10" tall with tiny little hands and feet and v8 envy

I'm 6'4" and I've driven a CRX, RSX, other Hondas very comfortably. Swing and a miss.

I'm 6'3" and 280 and think they suck for room and my feet are always hitting the brake and gas and clutch... so no .. I was dead on.... Not to mention the limited head room and tin can sound... yea I don't like them one single bit.. then you have the Honda who was trying to be fast in front of me but was unable to out handle the 740il on the corners.... yes there are some nice and fast ones but there is a reason they call them rollerskates

I've had 2 Japanese cars over the years....won't own another.

The opinions expressed are my own and in any way do not reflect the management.. :) To each their own, I don't mean to be disrespectful... just voicing my opinion and I live with to many of them around me getting in my way

I do hate the typical "ricer" The fart can mufflers, rediculous wings, and ruined suspensions give away those that have no idea what they are doing. Those cars can be a blast to drive if done right but personally I prefer a clean car that doesn't have flashy body kits and stupid image enhancments. All show and no go is a no go in my book.

That being said, one of the best cars I ever owned was a 96 Honda Civic. Of course I left it alone but I pulled trailers with that thing, it was peppy, got stellar fuel economy and NEVER broke (well my exhaust snapped in half once).

I get a kick out of getting up next to one of those dick holes with a big wing at a stop light and then when he takes off trying to show off I beat him with the bone stock avenger by about 5 car lengths...they usually won't come up next to you after that out of shame. Gotta love the new Pentastar V6.

You guys all have good points,I agree there's always going to be annoying "know it all" pricks no matter what hobby or interest, I can respect the import tuners that respect other peoples cars I've met mopar guys that want to "test" what you're about right off the bat and we all agree they're not any better than the kid with the fart cannon exhaust and stickered out eclipse, but I'm surprised on just how many import guys have this "Come I know the alphabet soup import talk B18C1,4G64,D16, EJ25 and SR20det, bow down to me" attitude,,,,it's just simply annoying I wish I could shoot back at them with "yeah well my factory A12's, 18 spline A-833 and suregrip need to be freshened up" just to see how they like it.

What bothers me is that they ASSUME you know what the heck there talking about. Perhaps if they just KNOW WHAT THERE LOOKING FOR instead of talking to you like your into there world of engines and know what there doing.

Lol, oh I bet the Chevy guys say the same about us Mopar guys. "I mean, it says Coronet 440 on the damn side, so sue me for assuming it had a damn 440 in it!"

I was so demeaned and humiliated by a "fart can tuner" I know now to go from a roll!
...& not out of the hole.

A couple of kids in a Honda last night were playing around, I looked around and stumped it down and waved at them when I went by. They had a smiles on there faces as I blew pass them.
Also they never caught up to me either. I guess there fart can didn't improve their cars performance very well!
