In the words of Joe Dirt... I'm New!!!

Welcome aboard from NJ. Very nice car you have, best of luck with it!

I am guessing I just needed to burn some stuff off. Nothing since the original report. Thanks to all who offered up advice~

I live on the Rhode Island /Massachusetts line, and one of my cars is also a 73 Charger. I saw your car when it was for sale on Craigslist. Good luck with your Charger.

:welcome: aboard. Agree that the choke may be sticking closed. Check all of the carb linkages for free movement, no binding and if choke is electric (it should be if it isn't) make sure the connections are clean and tight.

Hello and Welcome from Connecticut! :welcome:.
Sharp car. A friend of mine also has a 73 Charger and he put the 71 nose and tail on. It has an automatic and I believe a 440. His is red.:luvplace:

Welcome from North Carolina. Nice Charger. Lean out your carb and it will solve your "black" exhaust problem.
