The seal for the 11" drum has steel lip on it that I guess makes it more difficult for brake dust to reach the bearing. The 10" seal will work in the 11" drum but not the other way around.
REAL parts guys can check this out in a jiffy. Bearings have part numbers, and you used to be able to download the Timken catalog online. I haven't looked lately.
You can easily caliper the drum ID and the spindle OD and check the seal dimensions.
"Back when" I sold parts this was SOP
Even when I owned my 70 sixpack RR I carried a notebook with certain part no's because even back then the parts books didn't like to show the correct bearings and seals for the rotors. Most parts guys gave you a blank stare if you told them it was a "6 barrel"
Yes, 10” seals can be used on the 11” hub. To my knowledge 10” and 11” both use the same hub, the difference is in the backing plate. The 11” backing plate has a piece in the center that fully encircles the steel lip on the 11” seal. This creates a labyrinth of sorts making it more difficult for contaminants to reach the bearing and keeps any grease leakage away from the brakes as well. You might want to compare them side by side at the parts store to see what I mean.
He really is asking if the bearings (inner and outer) are the SAME for 10" and 11" drums. Sorry, I don't know the answer to this myself off hand, I've never had anything but the 11's. I would do as someone suggested, measure my old bearings ID/OD and match up to what the parts store has.
