Lookin....

Not good?
Different retainer heights..
Rpm head, aren't they 1.88 stock?

Were the heads redone and valve seats cut? Maybe the seats were sunk quite a bit (not good)?

If you haven't already, check a few others for consistency.

Rpm heads?
Those are not Edelbrock retainers, and different brands of retainers can provide different installed heights.

Is the .060” thick spring cup being used there?

As they come ootb with Ede parts, the nominal IH is about 1.88”.

Have you measured/verified the accuracy of the height mic?
They’re not always correct.

Is that a smaller diameter retainer on the exhaust side?

Looking at the pic again, even with that little of the head visible....... it appears to be a Victor or Procomp/SM Victor copy........ not an RPM head.

With the “correct” length valves, those heads have a nominal 1.900” installed height using a Comp 10deg steel retainer(like a 741-16), std height 10deg locks(611-16), and a .060” thick spring cup.

The correct length valves for Victor heads are:
5.375” exhaust
5.350” intake

Yep it’s a Pro Comp head

There was a point in time not too long after those were released that they were being sold by an on line retailer with the wrong length/wrong diameter valves in them.

The reason I posted the valve lengths is that it appears from your pic that the intake/exhaust valve tip heights are quite different from each other.

Using the top of the pic as a straight edge......

Yea a couple people have mentioned that. The machinist put a straight edge across it & it was fine but I’ll have him double check all that.

The intake valve looks like the rocker arm is going to come in contact with the retainer. Looks like either the retainer is wrong or the keeper has a different groove lock height. But it looks like it is a totally different keeper.

It is. I posted it has an offset keeper.
