Installed the rear shocks last night, but I noticed the perch weld is cracked:icon_eek:
That would explain why the car makes a move to the right when I hit the throttle. I real glad I did not attend the reunion at Englishtown this past weekend.
Will get that welded up along with new front shock mounts that need to be welded in. The front shocks have an eyelet instead of a stud, this will eliminate the shock stud from the engine compartment to end the problem of the right side stud and HEMI valve covers. Then I can install the fabricated valve covers I bought!:hello2:

I just don't get why the old hemi guys didn't do this instead of inverting shock towers:thinker:

Cool stuff, keep us updated on the progress...

love the look of the fabricated valve covers...
do you have cut off the hump {small mound where the OE stud comes thru} where the original shock stud mount goes,
before installing the tabs for the eyelet style shocks ?? it will gain you some room too...

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check the perch mount welds on both sides. You fix one and the next weak link will break....

i put viking coilovers in mine about a month ago, really good shock for the price and good warranty.
looks good

Don't have to cut anything, just weld tabs, clean & paint them and install new shocks!

Right you are, besides rewelding both sides an additional brace will be welded on both sides of the axel tube.

Right you are:eusa_shifty: Brought it to the shop yesterday to find right side welds ripped apart and the left side twisted:angryfire: Going back to the shop today with new perches I had in stock and went to the speed shop for new 1/2 inch u-bolts. Car should be on the lift for good part of the day:sad10:

good luck & post up some photos when she's done..
I'd like to see them anyway

Here ya go Bud!

I love your car Hemi. I figure if you have a car where you can't fit everything under the hood it must be one badass machine. Sorry about your shock problem, sounds like you have it handled. Do you recommend these Vikings for a street/strip set up? I bought summit drag shocks and I'm not too happy with them.

viking will work for all types of racing, good drag shocks, good corner handling shocks. cheap too, and 1million mile warranty too

For the twisting like that.... 9 1/6 u bolts... ream the 1/2" holes.. the reason the perch failed is because the bolts stretched....

Looks great, man, glad you found the problem before it found you on the track. Happen to have a link to those Viking shocks?

Thanks guys for all your kind words! Had the car out yesterday, went to a hot rod BBQ but with the chance of rain a lot of guys left their hot rods home.:icon_confused:
Went from the BBQ in Huntington to the Saturday night hang spot.

Did test the new perches:grin:
