Installing Inine Tube Pre-Bent Trans Cooler Lines

Is it me or are Inline's pre-bent trans cooler lines impossible to install? I'm replacing a pair of 'custom' lines that were on my car when I bought it 25 years ago.

I'm unable to get the Inline pieces routed above the K-frame and into place. I called Inline's tech support line and the guy basically said, 'sorry, can't help ya, good luck!'. Anybody have any pics, tips or tricks before I bend them over my knee and throw them in the garbage?
 
Going from the front to the back was easiest for me, are you starting from the back?
 
I tried re- using my factory lines after I did my engine/ trans rebuild. Couldn't get them in to save my life. Tossed them, ran my own high pressure/temp rubber hoses from the cooler, along the frame rail to the trans. Had a local hydraulic place crimp the correct fitting on the hoses, works like a charm and was able to route them how I wanted.
 
Like Car nut said, "start from the front." Do one line at a time.

I had a hard time installing them on my Coronet with 2" TTI headers. I had to get my tubing bender out and "custom" bend them. I thought it was just hard due to the headers. Maybe they are designed to install once at the factory or with the K frame engine and trans removed like you see in the resto photos on here.
 
Patience.

Twist, turn, bow, push, pull, repeat.

Cover with rags if necessary to avoid scratches.

Might need to disconnect shift linkage.
 
Well, my Inline Tube tranny lines are hanging on the wall. Same as you I have tried them on 3 different cars and they fit none of them.Ended up bending up my own . The only thing I didn't do was support the engine and drop the K frame.
Next time I will place them while installing the engine/tranny. and see if that works.
 
Same as other replies, feed them in from the front. I even had to "screw" them in. Rotate as you go. It's kind of like solving a puzzle without bending them.
 
Or maybe it's like Mr. Moparts. I ordered a big block timing cover and tab...They sent me one for a small block CHEVY. But to their defense it was drop shipped from a reproduction company.

I held mine up underneath and could tell they were right before trying to install them. They matched up pretty close to my old ones too.

I've never been sent a Chevy part yet and I pity the fool that does! Lol
 
In-line tube is 15 minutes from my home. They're cock-suckers, when it comes to customer service. I got into a loud argument with their desk guy.....about **** he didn't know, then change for cash. I'll order from anywhere else.
 
Did two big block cars now and the were identical to the original ones. One I did with engine out and the other one was together. Take the motor mount bolt out and jack that side of the engine up. Gives you some extra room.

Did your cars have headers?
 
Headers makes it fun! I had the header loose for removing the trans, that's why the bracket is touching. I completely removed both lines to get them out of the way and reinstalled them after I got the trans fixed. Double duty!

You da man! Mine look as bad as the bent up ones I replaced after I was finished. :BangHead:
I did scratch up the side of my oil pan that time. Pissed me off having to R&R the trans after all of the work the first time around. $hit Happens!

Custom **** is Cool.
 
Mine were "right stuff" brand.

They were bent different than factory and actually went in easier than the factory bends.

...although the one through the shift linkage hangs lower because it goes under instead of through.

...and the lines swap to the opposite fitting on the radiator tank/cooler.

Odd, but they work.
 
ha! I ordered a set for a 66 dart from Classic Ind. couple years back.... do not know who makes them. one line was bent 180 degrees backward at rad. go figure.
