Hi Everyone,

I would like to replace my interior bulbs on my 69 Roadrunner to Led's. I have read some of the post and it looks like superbrightleds are pretty good. Does anyone have any pictures of led's installed in the instrument panel. I am looking for more of a natural white light. Not sure which ones to purchase on superbrightleds website.

I have LED's installed in my '69 roadrunner dash, purchased from superbrightled's. They're great, work well. I run blue lighting. Sorry, don't have a pic offhand and the car's in storage. I bought the 1 LED 194 bulb with 120 degree spread. I'd try to find a bulb with the widest beam angle

I did this too mine. I bought a set that had green and red and white bulbs.

They said to use green bulb with green platic lens, red with red etc. I then used the white to go behind the blue colored lenses on my '67 dash. Turned out great.

Did you guys have to remove the blue inserts in the gauge cluster under the original bulbs?

Nope, I got LED's that were made for doing this conversion. Ebay.

They are roughly the same dimensions, so the color you see in my vid is the WHITE led shining through the stock blue lenses.

Does anything else need to be changed with led lights or just r & r them?

Hi Guys,

One question I have: Are the LEDs dimmable? Usually LEDs are not dimmable so I am assuming these are not. Is that correct?

Thanks,

Hawk

Just R&R.....Piece O' cake......

Mine dim with the factory dimmer, but it isn't half as noticeable as a standard filament bulb. There is led dimmers you can buy, you could plumb in. I believe they just have more capability as far as reducing voltage vs a factory dimmer. The LED's take a fraction of the amps/voltage to shed some light. The factory dimmer was obviously designed for the standard draw of a 194 filament bulb

Mine dim too with the factory original switch. There is a problem at HIGHEST setting, LED's may pulse a little. SO I back mine off. The issue is they reach their peak pretty quickly in the sweep of the dimmer adjustment, so anything after that is doing nothing to light intensity.

I guess there is some more scientific reason. but basically, mine dim, and go full power at half of the sweep. ;)

Hi TekHouse and Propwash,

Do you guys have a part number? There are so many different choices from superbrightleds. I don't want to buy some that are way to bright.

I have wide angle blue LEDs for the instruments without the blue lenses. And forward facing white LEDs for turn signals behind the green lenses. Stock dimer works but I leave them set at their brightest.

Thanks guys. This will help me decide on which bulbs to buy. I will post some pics once I have completed the install.

Ok, here's a "simpleton" question, how are you guys getting to the dash lights? Does the front panel come out enough to get to the bulbs? Certainly you guys aren't pulling entire dash boards to replace lights? I've got a 69 Super Bee so I'm assuming I can get to the dash lights by just pulling out the front panel(s) enough.

Yep it is the easiest way, sorry to tell you. Well it depends on your hand size and reach. It is possible to reach up and get to them by lying in the footwell if your hands are slim. I could not do it, so I had to take the dash out. It's not hard, just do not forget the speedo cable and PLEASE make sure you disconnect the battery first. I shorted out and killed the ammeter the first time I took out the dash.

oh. I'm not taking the damn dash out merely for lights.
