I was looking at the new Edelbrock 7193 Performer RPM intake and found an old school Edelbrock for $50.. the numbers on it are: S.P.2-P.440... ?? should I pass on it or is it a good choice ? eventually I'd like to put a six pak on top but for now I was thnking about swapping the current hunk of iron off it for improved flow.

Nevermind.... just found the answers I was looking for... I'll just save for the six pak

It's definitely not a performance manifold. They were designed back in the 80's for fuel mileage and emmisions. Better than a 2 barrel, but not much better.

I'd say a factory cast iron one would offer better performance than the SP2P.
