Intake Manifold Silencer Insulation - Anyone use?

Looking to see how many still or have ever used these intake pads under the manifold and does it work, and anyone use it on an performer rpm manifold?

I had a 383 cu.in. motor with it. It worked very well. Kept heat from the intake manifold.
 
LOL,'it does both jobs. The noise reduction pad also keeps some heat out of the intake. Noise reduction was the main job which it did well. You can notice it most with a mechanical cam on a Brodie and after installation.

Could you use it with a RPM intake? Sure!
 
Seeing if it's still available Performance Car Graphics is advertising it for $25. might pick some up just to see.

Intake Manifold Silencer Insulation was used all through the 1960s, and into the 1970s on big blocks, except hemi. It’s not likely to have been used on 440-6 engines, and it's not likely to have been used on mid-1970s-and-later high performance blocks. Many people have many “theories” about this Big Block Intake Manifold Insulation.

Its purpose was listed in parts catalogs as “Valve Tappet Noise Reduction Silencer Package.” Some say its real purpose was to prevent the intake manifold from cracking due to heat. Some say it was only used on air conditioning cars. Those who have observed many original engines have seen its two pieces tucked under the intake manifold.

It is POSSIBLE to install these exactly-reproduced pieces after your manifold is already in place, but it's much easier to do like the factory did. The pieces were placed on the pan, large piece in front, small piece in rear, then the manifold was bolted in. The pieces should have engine paint overspray. These silencers are a heavy aluminum foil that is filled with a fiberglass insulation pad. The foil is correct in size and shape. The pads are a pair. They do not look like each other; neither did the originals. The edges of the pads are sealed correctly. Retainer plate not included ........................................... set $25
 
We used to throw these away if doing engine work back in the day. Nobody ever noticed. Not all cars had them.
 
I remember working on C body cars that had these insulators, but I don't remember them being on B body cars. As WileERobby mentioned, we usually threw them away, when we ran across them.
 
I wonder how graveyard carz replicates this? Real question not being a smart ***. Ill have to make note of it next episode I watch were they work on a wedge or maybe Ill youtube it today

The fact that the air gap intakes came about I believe is just a neglibable result that eddie went to market with
