What intakes are you all using with the early B bodies with 383's and have you had hood clearance problems?

I'm running an Edelbrock Performer now, with a 1" adapter/spacer and an Eddy carb. The filter assembly is obviously a Moroso unit, and I do have room for a 3" filter(2-3/4" on there now). '64's have a slight "bow" in the center of the hood, which helps with clearance;however...the former setup was an Offenhauser/twin AFB setup(with spacers under the carbs) and even with small air cleaners, the front piece just hit the inner hood.

One more thing...

I've also got an Eddy Torker 440 and a Holley Street Dominator, both single-planes,but rather low profile. I think the newer Edelbrock Torker II is also a lower-profile unit. I would think that with a 383 your choice could extend to higher profile Victor types.

Holley Street Dominator typically gives best bang for buck and gives great clearance.

A couple of magazines did dyno testing on mild motors and the Street Dominator wins out in horsepower over even the tall single planes yet give good low end torque.

I have the Team G intake and it will need a hood scoop to clear my breather, but i got the intake brand new for $75 from a guy who never used it.

From what I was able to find both the Dominator and the Eddy give up a little to the other, one on bottom end and the other on top end.

I use the RB (440) Holley Street Dominator and it fits with room to spare under my 63's hood. And it also has awesome low end as it 60's better then my sons Dart does and he uses the Performer RPM intake. Both cars have run 11.40's with his best 60 a 1.60 and my best 60 is a 1.57. Street Dominator is a great street/strip intake and if you use it you wont be disapointed. Ron

I've got an Edelbrock DP4B with a Performer series Carb and it clears no problem with a stock 64 chrome breather set up.

I just put on a Edelbrock RPM today on my 383 (64 polara). It will fit a 3" filter on a holley carb.

I was able to locate a very clean and undamaged Holly intake..now...what CFM would be a better choice..660 or 750?
