i'm trying to find out what is better for more performance. is the 6 pack setup on a 440 better than a crossram with 2 fours or the other way around. have a cross ram on motor now but getting ready to put better heads and a bigger cam in. if any one would know any help would be nice. thanks

I'll make it real simple; (1) 4 bbl carb is the way to go! For power, ease of tune, and performance.
It can be a pain in the rear to tune and keep tuned the 6 pac and in my honest opinion 3 out of 4 times a single 4 barrel tuned will out perform a 6 pac.

I found another review a while back that was on a 440. They used most of the same intakes except they included a cross ram in that run of tests. The Victor 440 intake took the cake then...... I don't recall them using the old WEIAND tunnel ram like the previous article I posted a link to.....
I once ran a WEIAND tunnel ram on a 440 in my 69 Road Runner.... It seemed to perform pretty well with a pair of 750 Holleys on top.
The problem is finding a scoop that would cover the damn thing up with a hood in place! I ran the R/R without a hood because of this...
Sure would be fun to borrow another setup like that to test on my 67! I bet it would perform pretty damn well with the way my engine is put together!

The factory 6 BBL will have some limitations because it's a divided plenum dual plane. I'm sure for this reason when used in class racing, Weiand and Edelbrock both made cross ram intakes for this application and put Chrysler P/N's on them. But I will agree with the above post that a good single 4 BBL is hard to beat. Just depends what your engine likes.

All the testing I have seen the 6pk will make more power then the crossram with Carter or Eddy carbs. The 6pk will make as much power as many single four intakes as the 6pk is a pretty good combo. But its tuff to keep in good tune unless you know how to tune them. Your basic Victor or Street Dominator intakes make good power and are easy to keep in tune. Ron
