Interesting fact: My dad, William R. Robinson and A. J. White campaigned a 65' hemi car that was sponsored by Brignack Dodge & Plymouth in Denham Springs, LA. Later the car was altered for AFX racing. The car was never campaigned as an AFX but the blown and injected hemi was bought by Paul Candies and Leonard Hughes. Which found its way into the first Candies & Hughes car.

That is the coolest group of drag race pictures that I have ever seen. Look at the lettering on the cars. Several people listed as mechanics, etc. who went on to be quite famous. Ronny Sox had a gas station --Bill Jenkins did not start out whith Chevrolet-- Don Garlits either had or sponsored a .Super-Stocker. Look at all the neat background stuff............................MO

Great Pics, I was looking for the car I almost bought in the early 80's that the owner claimed it was called Spirit of America. I believe it was a 65 running. It looked like the one in the picture I am posting from that site. It was altered with the front wheels moved forward, the engine set back with the firewall moved and the rear wheels were moved forward, aluminum fenders and light doors. It looked more hacked up to me in my youth. The owner was selling the body for about $500. I wanted it and could not make a deal. At that time I did not realize that those altered cars would be worth anything. Young and stupid, I kept thinking I could repair the mods that were done to it.

Who knew what any of these cars would be worth? In 1980, I was looking for a car and found a Hemi 4 speed cuda in primer in back of my school. The guy wanted $3,500 for it. I thought he was crazy and walked away. Brilliant!!!! Oh yeah, I also parted out a Hemi Roadrunner around 1985. Genius!!!!!!!!!!
