Just wanted to introduce myself to the group. Recently purchased at auction my second 1969 Dodge Charger. My first one was 50 years ago and I've been missing it lately, so I went and found another I could afford and it just happens to be a partial restoration. It's a RT ( not matching numbers) with a 440 ci that has a four barrel carb, iron intake, a camshaft that is not stock and Edelbrock Performer RPM heads (so I assume I can use unleaded gas safely, but maybe not). The transmission is aTorqueFlite 3 speed automatic and it has a MSD Digital 6A electronic ignition system. The previous owner purchased it as a General Lee roller with no engine or transmission and did enough to it to get it running and driveable, but passed away unexpectedly. He was rather reclusive, so nobody real knew about the car until his mother inherited it and asked her son-in-law to sell it. It will be up to me to finish the restoration and I'll have lots of questions on wiring, heater hoses (there are none, not even stubs on the water pump for them) A/C system, etc. The son-in-law provided me with all the manuals and documentation he could find, squirreled away in the garage on the car, but not having the previous owner/mechanic available leaves me with no one to answer the questions on what was done and how well it was done, or if it was done. So, any help would be appreciated. I'm sure it needs timing and the carb adjusted, because it runs rough and the idle only smooths out when it's warmed up. But first I need to drain the fuel system, because I have no idea how old the gas is that was in it or the quality of the gas (ethanol, non-ethanol?) And FYI, the engine picture was from the listing, so the negative battery wire is currently attached to the terminal. I guess that's enough info for now, thanks for reading.
