I have a very good friend that owns a crushing yard close to me here in the beautiful state of Alabama. He averages smashing a few hundred cars and trucks every month for at least the last thirty years I have known him. It is his business and he enjoys every bit of it. He is constantly bringing in different cars that he tries to sell or part out before they go into his crusher. Some of those cars could and should be saved and repaired. He is allowing me to try to sell or part out the ones i feel have a value beyond the actual price of junk.I have saved many of them myself, but i can not afford to buy every one of them. Last week i bought a '71 Dart Swinger from him. No it was not cheep, but I felt it to be worth what he had quoted me so it is now mine.

Yesterday he brought in a 1964 or 1965 4 door Belvedere that has many good parts on it . He says one of my neighbors bought it new and it looks complete from where I saw it.

Today he got a 1974 Dart Swinger no motor or transmission or hood but lots of good parts here. Spool mount k-member, disc brakes, upper control arms with large ball joints, complete interior, all good tinted glass, lots of the ac parts are still there as well as many good rust free body parts.

If any one thinks they would like to know more about these and any other brands he has I will be glad to assist y'all. I did not have my camera with me today but pictures will not be any problem, just tell me what view or views you require and I will get the info for you.

I know it is not a B-body, but I am looking for rear quarters for a 77 volare future project (wife's). If he gets something like that in, let me know.

I could use the tail lights out of that 74' swinger ifthey're good and priced right.

Kind of seems like a self-destructive effort. You said you're helping sell cars for more than their scrap value, but then you said your Dart Swinger wasn't cheap. What's the scrap value of a Swinger? $200? So the minute you show interest in the car, the price apparently starts going up to a collector level. :(

This is the inherent problem with deals like this. Let's say the scrap value of a Swinger is $200, and the "fair market price" to a collector is $2,500. While $2,500 is a fair market price for a collector, unless you're a collector why would you want to pay that much? Yes, someone who really wants a Swinger may pay $2,500, but these folks are getting fewer and fewer by the day. I would never pay a fair price for a car that's about to be scrapped unless it was something I really wanted and needed. If I was just out to save cars from the crusher, i wouldn't go more than $100 or so over scrap value. If that scrapper wants to make another $2,200 as in this example, fine. Let him keep the car, market it, and wait for someone who A: wants the car and B:, has the money to buy it. If he doesn't want to do that, then he can make the extra $100 or do without. At this point, the buyer should be driving the sale and not the seller.

I have read your comment from above. Now i will admit that I really do have very poor literary skills and I am way to old to attempt to rectify that at this point in my life. I disagree with your way of thinking in a great number of ways. Some people actually are thankful to be able to get non ready available parts for cars they are trying to repair. Some people have very shallow minds and just like to hear their own thoughts. I do not know anything about you except for your input on this site. I do know that I personally have hunted parts for projects for a good many cars I have built or had part in the build. I am always thankful to all the folks that had assisted me in the process. I am a retired man that was successful in the work force so my 40 acres of land, my house, all my cars and my boat and everything else I own is mine and paid in full. On top of that I get my s.s. money every month like clock work so i do not need to be insulted for trying to aid other real car people. I try to help other car people with their needs in an effort to promote their success with their own projects. Then someone with the wrong way of thinking has to interject these negative thoughts and messes it up for all the other people. My friend that owns that crushing yard is a very wealthy man and he enjoys his work. He is also two years older than me and he gets s.s. money also. I have no clue as to the price of rusty scrap metal in Florida but from the prices you have listed in your post I think you don't either. My friend Mike said he will take every $200.00 clunker you care to drag across his scales. And yes if he can pull and sell some parts first that will be great as well. So if you are one of those guys daddy bought you everything you own then I'll be thanking you to keep your thoughts to yourself as they do not serve anyone any good on here. I do read peoples profile information they put on here and I see you have none. You may be better served if you at least take the time to read mine. I am not trying to be a used car salesman or a parts dealer I simply asked if any one needs stuff off of these and others before they meet their final day. Please at least try to phrase your comments in a less insulting and a more positive way. Thank you very Much.

I'll ask if he has any or knows of any.

I took these pictures today in the rain and they are filthy. They look a lot nicer than these photos make them appear. They are wet.

Other than the dirt they look pretty fair. You can see the rain is washing them a little.

I read Bruzilla's comments and don't see the insult - sorry, I just don't. I took it as he was trying to help - to possibly save you and others some money. I too would be wary if someone approached me with a "deal" on a car that was minutes away from the crusher. Is the car's market value $2,500? And he paid $200? Business is business and capitalism is the name of the game in the US - fortunately. But Bruzilla was merely pointing out that it's a buyer's market on this one and that the seller should be happy with anything over scrap value and the buyer (you) has the upper hand in this deal. I would hope that a fair deal could be negotiated without a "scrap" car suddenly turning to gold. I am sure that everyone is happy and thankful that you are saving what you can and appreciative of the offer to help us find those hard to locate parts we need. We just hope that a fellow BBO member (Trimmer) is not getting taken to the "crusher" on the deal.

I for one will watch for you to post any 66-67 Belvedere/Satellite and 68 Coronet parts or parts cars. Thanks!

I would like the upper control arms off of the swinger for a 69 dart I have. I'm located in Chattanooga where you located at in Al? Come to think of it I wouldn't mine having the k member and the control arms and spindles connected in one piece.

We sell things for scrap sometimes too. Sometimes it's a car or truck. In fact, last month we scrapped an F150 and an E250. For us not to scrap something, someone would have to give us above and beyond scrap price. I see nothing wrong with that. Scrap price is garranteed. Just because someone is interested in something means nothing. Sorta like in trimmer's other thread. If somebody wants to step up to the plate and buy something, do it. Otherwise shut up.

Go see him. All I can say is, it's well worth the ride.

100_7092-1.jpgWell I suppose I missed the boat on what the both of y'all are talking about altogether. I do not know where Bruizla got his figures from to begin with as I mentioned no prices of any kind in the original question I had asked. I have been on this site and have read many posts of people asking to buy different parts. Now because I have asked if anyone would like these or parts of them that makes me and my friend a doer of wrong deeds. Or maybe some kind of a crook. When I said not cheap I simply meant it wasn't on my daily list of things I had planed to do. I have understood for a very long time that the crusher is where all neglected cars eventually end up, and I think it is a shame.

I had no idea that when I asked a simple question it would be taken completely out of context and I would be taken back to school to relearn how my country operates. It would seem to me that a person should ask for a price before assuming they are going to get ripped off by a couple of sharp old men. Like I've already said my literary skills ain't to good but I am a honest person and you are welcome to run me through N.C.I.C. anytime.

I am including a photo of the Belvedere but I don't know what year it is as this is not my favorite year model.

The Belvedere is a 67 and I could use the filler piece between the grille and bumper. How do we make this happen?

All those parts are available. I live the first exit off I-20 when you enter Alabama from Georgia and then south a few miles in the Ranburne area. That's about three hours from Chattanooga.

67 belvedere gas cap tail lights and headlight bezels..

Hey Cranky, I guess the best way would be to tell me what you think would be a fair price for it and then I will find out if Mike will sell it for what your offer is. You will have to pay the shipping cost with the shipper of your choice. Please bear in mind that someone will need to remove it and that will add a little to the total price. We are not unreasonable on any price on any part so make an offer.

TRIMMER......sounds like ya got great literary skills. Nice punctuation.....easily understood....i see no problem here!I would like to personally thank you while im at it. Its nice to read a post once, and not have to go back and read it 18 times to make sure i got all the information given without a telephone book sized post with no periods anyplace. Nice job!

BRUZILLA....its called "supply and demand". Very simple economics and this is how it works..YOU WANT IT ?...I HAVE IT ! IF YOU WANT WHAT I HAVE YOULL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT......to a degree of course without price gouging.

ill be over there awaiting smart comments .....................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Getting it off isn't too hard but my bumper was already off. Shipping it in a package good enough to protect it from getting bent is the hard part....oh well. Mine got bent because of stupidity but I may be able to fix it. If someone else buys the bumper and grille but not the filler, let me know. Once those parts are gone, the filler is easy to get too. If it were me, I probably wouldn't want to bother with it until those other parts were gone unless someone was willing to pay at least 75 for it....

Looks like your not too far from Villa Rica. I go down to Villa Rica all of the time. So who takes the parts off me or someone else? I also need the wheel trim off of the 67 if it has any decent pieces.
Man thanks for helping up off.
