Hi all,

Can't seem to find a body assembly manual for the b body cars. I found faxon has the A and the C body, but not the B body. I can only find the regular factory parts assembly manual that's 1000 pages. What is the best detailed manual out there for putting a B body together?

I'm not overly aware of such a thing... besides the factory service manual. However that does not tell you what sequence to put a car together. Only real world experience can do that. If possible, buy a complete parts car and experiment on it. I've taken apart dozens of b bodies for parts, and that experience/ knowledge has been the best thing ever for reassembly

Youtube is a great source for these cars. There are plenty of videos on there. You can look up Junkerup on Youtube he does pretty good detailed videos on different things. But there are many more videos out there with great information.

Assembly manual is a GM thing I believe. Best resource is a factory parts manual IMO. However if you run into any roadblocks the fellows on this forum will be happy to help you out.

You can get assembly manuals with the engineering drawings for lots of specific GM and Ford models, which are great for getting a car built the way it was supposed to be. For some reason, the Mopar folks seem to need to keep it a secret from everyone and/or make it hard to find any information. And yes, I have the factory shop manual, Dave Wise books and the Faxon Chassis manual. It's a PITA to have to dig through a stack of manuals to find information when it would be far faster and easier to have all of the engineering drawings in one place to reference.

this^^^^^

but I did pick this up about 25 years ago....... good reading lmao

Sure, that's a good resource, but you won't find things like fastener part numbers and specs, installation parameters, engineering drawings, etc. all in one easy to look up format. With GM and Ford assembly manuals, you can find the information you need in seconds. Not so much with Mopar.

I bought this about a year ago. Don't remember where though. It has "Faxon Auto Literature" watermarks on every page. 158 pages. Pretty good content, but it is pretty much restricted to running gear and not much help for body related assembly.

Edit: And...I just reread your post and see you were specifically asking about a body assembly manual, which this isn't. I will still
leave it up here for what it's worth.

I bought the book fesser posted as well. I contacted them since they have other c body body manuals. No luck 4 b bodies. The Dave Wise books have a lot in them so probably as good as the factory drawings. I had a chance to buy a set of factory drawings yeast ago and passed on them. Stupid me.

This book is a very well written step-by-step of a 1970 Charger by Larry Lyle. It's extremely helpful. A bit harder to obtain, but worth it.

Project Charger: The Step-By-Step Restoration of a Popular Vintage Car

by Larry Lyles

There are a couple editions listed on Etsy, eBay, and Amazon. Here is a listing as well.....

Thanks everyone. Looks like I will stick with the parts manual, the factory assembly service manual, and the other miscellaneous ones. Just looking for something that shows, for example, what parts are supposed to be in a steering column and stuff like that. Mine has some stuff missing in various places.

A factory service manual helps, but a great help is a body shop estimate manual if you can find one for your car. Tons of illustrations and pictures showing even the small parts.

Factory service manual and more importantly the factory parts book.
All those drawings and text is good enough for me, and of course the invaluable wealth of information on this site!

Assembly is the reverse of disassembly. :p
