Coll old dirt tires, Hoosiers
back in the day,
guys with 'rods'
a lot of them used the Hoosier dirt/sprint tires like those
they were the widest thing you could get with tread
till the M/T Sportsmans, DOT stickeys
IIRC in 15"wx31"t or 18"wx33"t (I had on my 49 Ford Pro-gas)
wide street/DOT tires came on scene, finally
like the biggest were N50/15's prior, Pro-Trac
like on 15x10" wheels 28"-29"t x 12"-13"w
Pro-street movement helped that to evolve way past the dirt tires
