Very true.
I had a similar situation with a "done" car a decade ago. I've had a thing for red '69 GTXs ever since I test drove the one I currently own, back when it was new. Back then, I wanted a four speed, no power options car, but I wanted it to look like the option laden luxury cruiser I had test driven. The exact car I would have ordered, if I'd had the financial means back then, came on the market in 2015. Priced high, but well within my means. Bought it, put several thousand into correcting some nit picky stuff, and sold it at a $10K loss after five years of ownership. Don't regret it, I paid a lot more for less satisfying indulgences in years past. I drove that GTX to Carlisle three times, put over 3000 miles on it. Smiles per mile, it was well worth the money.Good point, sometimes it's more about one's love for the car than profit.
Yup, building it for yourself you spend a lot more time making things right and go beyond just making it look good.when "profit" enters the equation; quality and longevity goes in the toilet....... my biggest problem is my love for the cars; I spend time on things that will never be seen, because I spent the time on them.

We all know it will be done right if you do it, even if we can't see it!I suppose I do it for myself, even if the car belongs to someone else........ must be ADD or ADHD, or whatever nonsense I'd be diagnosed with these days; I just call it "attention to detail"
