Hello,
Found this forum and so glad I did. Tons of useful information.

I have pulled my 1968 Roadrunner from storage of 23 years and resuming the restoration on it with my 15 year old son.

It was my first car in high school and when I was 19 years old I took it apart to paint it Lime Green. Back then I wanted everything loud including the color. (LOL)
Paint was completed and it was parked.
If I did it again I would prob paint the original color…
I have most of the exterior parts to put it back together but lost all the interior parts in a garage fire where I was storing the parts.:icon_frown::icon_frown::icon_frown:

I’m sure I will be looking to the forum often for questions and or part needs in the near future.
Thanks to those who have already been helpful !

Craig

Welcome to the site from Southern Oregon, awesome project and very cool that it was your high school car now being built with your son. I know it's always fun when my dad helps me wrench on my car, good luck with the resto!

Welcome, and congrats on resuming work on your road runner. Looks like it was kept in good shape the whole time it was stored. Does it run?

So ILL and it's coooold out there this morning @ 32 windy degrees

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

The car was garaged the entire time. It is a number matching 383, 727 auto. I painted it and then parked it. It ran when I parked it.
This past weekend I fired it for the first time. Took about a day to change all fluids, shoot oil in the cylinders, prime , ect. and fire right up !!! What a great felling.

photo.jpg054.jpg053.jpgrr 002.jpg004.jpgHave made small amounts of progress. Got the old Centaripaint cut and buffed. Sanded good for old as it is. Have started putting someparts back on.
Unfortunately realized the old driver door mirror that waspulled off the car back in 1990 was NOT the original and when I went to bolt onthe new repo from Year One the holes did not align. UGGGGGG..................Back to welding, body work , and repaint the door. I HATE DUMB MISTAKES.
Who would have thought someone would have replaced the mirrorwith an odd ball ?

ok got the dash pulled out, stripped and ready to sand blast and paint. Sent my gages to Instrument Specialties to get restored. Can't wait to get them back. Next task will to be dig into the heater box.
