Well it's not quite how it used to be.... but it's a drive-in movie still.

Next month they are playing American Graffiti. So definitely going to hit it up.

We do have an original style drive in about an hour from here and I may visit that this summer.

I'll post more pics later

Few more pics. Kids cartoons first. Then they played an old timey intermission sequence.

But I did have a scare. When I went to leave and turned the key nothing. Thought neutral safety switch so juggled the shifter still nothing. Guages didn't even light up. Couple more key tries and it fired right up. Might have an issue in the ignition switch. Grrr.....

How many friends were in the trunk compared to back then?
Well it was free. But the next one, still free is in conjunction with a car show. I told the GF we should load the trunk up for fun anyways.....

That looks like a great idea...

I'll now wonder where to get the projector & films ?

thanks for sharing
I loved going to the drive-in in my youth Solano/Concord or Pleasnthill Multiplex
none anywhere close to here anymore

the one in Concord is still open, stayed open for all thee years

Did you like the picture quality?

I ask because there is a Ampitheater near me. It was built by the CCC.
They showed movies through the early 60's. We would spread out blankets and eat dinner while watching a movie. The screen has been gone for 50 years, but the grass covered terraces are still there. With digital projectors that would run with a whisper quiet Honda 1K generator and inflatable screens, it could be done again.

We still have one drive-in in my area, The Twilight Drive-In,and that's it.
