Good luck. I recently had surgery and felt pretty good about the Doc who " had my life" in his hands.....
I was told by the nurses not to lift anything over 10 pounds, so of course I asked them " how was I going to take a leak".. Then it dawned in me and I started laughing that they " knew" I was a liar.....LOL...

I don't imagine anybody ever goes under the knife without those thoughts, just got to focus on the good.. that being coming out the other side of it in even better shape.

I had my first surgery last year and was quite nervous never having been put under before but I'm better now than before so..

They give you a option on procedures? Youll be fine. Sore for a bit ,but fine.

Yes, quite the dramatic way of saying I'm going in for surgery tomorrow, eh?

You'd think after all I've seen medically, an umbilical hernia (abdominal hernia)
repair would be easy peasy, right?
Well, not so much in my case - it's because of all the past surgeries and such that
things get a little dicey, apparently.
Regardless, it needs to get done before it gets worse.

I'd like to say a fella almost gets used to this sort of thing after a while -
and this should be routine stuff - it usually is with younger, healthier folks I'm told...
But something is setting off my spidey sense this time and I can't put my finger
on it for the life of me.

Eh, maybe I'm just getting antsy in my advancing age....
Reckon we'll find out in the morning either way.

Get er' done Ed. The guy has done hundreds if not thousands of those operations.. I have one of those going on myself although I haven't scheduled surgery yet.

Did they do "conventional" or "robotic"? Makes me sort of nervous this hospital doesn't do the robotics,
which supposedly lead to less invasive and quicker recovery?

I was nervous leading up to my surgery in 2017. I hadn't had any surgeries since I was a kid and it had me waking up with anxiety every day leading up to that day. It all worked out just fine though.

Had that surgery plus a partial neck fusion, lower back laminectomy, and thumb repair. Not in this order. Doc says I could use another surgery on my neck; but holding off. First surgery was 22 years ago. Glad to say I’m still able to do most things fine despite my being 67 now. Know several having knee and hip replacements doing just all fine today glad they had it done. Still, there’s always the thought or concern before surgery and that’s perfectly natural. Tell us how this was a piece of cake once you recover, lol.

Ed , I just had a double groin hernia fixed with mesh about 11 months back.
Left and right I had twins lol.
You will do fine and it would not surprise me to see you posting on here tomarrow eve.
Just follow the directions ( that's going to be the tuff part for you )

Ya. Those are not fun. Mine were injuries from work. 1st one. Got worse could not stand straight. Then the right side went last Dec . The Doc did a good job. The nurse was a bag aka bitch though. The cavitor was not fun.

Yep, I remember you getting lined up to go in also.
Took awhile but I have no complaints other than I waited to long to get them fixed.lol

Naw, this hospital and surgeon doesn't do robotics turns out - I'd have to go down to UT Medical for that
(UT is where they used robotics when they saved my life a decade ago (kidney cancer) ).
Reckon this one is gonna be pocket knife and nurses laughing at my manhood like dad said .

Yeah, I had the inguinal hernia fixed on my left side in the 80's - before the mesh.
That was a freaking nightmare - they literally stitch YOU to YOU in there, stretching and pulling....
My dad had both sides done later on, one at a time with mesh and literally was up and walking
the same day, whereas I wasn't for a few weeks - ok, a month.

I hope this time it just feels like they put a Brad Pitt ab plate in there and I'm functional right away.

Lookit, I don't want this to turn into me whining my arse off here....just burning off some anxiety is all.
As some of you know, I've had major, life-saving surgeries in the past that left me gutted like a fish...
the kind of **** you die in surgery from (which I have) sometimes.
Always woke up.
Always got up.
Some organs ain't in here anymore; others aren't where they used to be. Scars galore, all that jazz.

So why is this one making me so nervous? Ought to be a walk in the park.
