I replaced my old fluorescent 4 tube fixtures with ballast bypass LED 6500K tubes. WOW. I can finally see out here. If you guys are considering doing this, I recommend it.

Yes, what a difference it made. I retrofitted my 8 foot fixtures a couple of years ago. The fluorescent tubes needed replaced anyway, it was well worth the expense.

Yep, slowly converting over here too as my fluorescents start to fail. Much brighter and last longer too.
I must say however, I put the fluorescents in when I built the shop 14 years ago and they are now just starting to fail. Pretty good run.

I replaced 14 fluorescent light fixtures in my shop with LED lights from Amazon. They weren't very expensive, and they're a lot brighter than the fluorescent. They also don't take any time to warm up. One thing I learned from reading the reviews is that if you plug too many of them together, they can fail.

I started converting the 20 fixtures in my building about 6 months ago. It's about 50% done, but all fixtures are working. As the ballast fail or I run out of spare bulbs the others will slowly get done.

On a totally different tangent - and don't take this the wrong way - What's the point of that 4-pot hoist in a shop with less than 8 feet of headroom ??? From the looks of it you can raise the car about one foot and you're done.

When I built my shop, I used all LED from amazon. It, and my engine room are very bright.

The ceiling is going to be modified to allow full lift. Right now I get about 4-5 feet of lift, plenty to do most work. Ceiling is 9' right now.

Mine are just failing, 4 foot regular fluorescent. I have to be sure the bulbs can handle chilly weather. Will an LED bulb fit and what do I look for on Amazon. I am off for about ten days, and will need light when I get back.

Harbor Freight lights...

I hung four of these in my garage (different LED fixtures in the shop), nice and bright. It is 0° right now, the lights work fine. You can run up to four in series. They plug into one another.
