The Greatest Generation. When I see this Video about Iwo Jima I wonder how we can ever live up to the history of the greatest Country in the World. What has happened to us. They gave to their country, now people want from the Country. They sacrificed, now we want everyone to sacrifice and complain about everything. We made everything here now everything comes from a crummy Communist Country. They had Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower. Now we have loosers like Clinton, Obama and Big Mouth Joe Biden. We gave for the common good, now we have selfish greedy politicians and lawyers running everything.

Couldn't agree more Snakeoil but what do we do? I try to steer my boys in the direction they need to go and they get it. What about the 100s of thousands that don't parent their kids?

Thanks Pops it's the 68th anniversary now... they were a truely great generation, fighting the axis of evil... IMHO they sacrificed so much for the USA, gave so much for Flag & country, to sustain our way of life & liberty, with a pursuit of happiness & freedom, that no other country, let alone any other generation, can even be compared with...

So much is owed to them, yet they don't ask, they just say I was doing my job. Now whiney *** sh**heads want everthing handed to them. And thanks to the incumbents, it's a country of deadbeats. Got a little teary eyed thinking of my father, 11th airborn 1944. Thank you all past, present, & future.

If you guys ever get the chance, please read the book: "Flags of our fathers"
Unforgettable!

An excerpt from Wikepedia:
Flags of Our Fathers (2000) is a New York Times bestselling book by James Bradley with Ron Powers about the five United States Marines and one United States Navy Corpsman who would eventually be made famous by Joe Rosenthal's lauded photograph of the flag raising at Iwo Jima, one of the costliest and most horrifying battles of World War II's Pacific Theater. The flag raisers included John Bradley (a Navy corpsman, and the author's father), Rene Gagnon, Ira Hayes, Mike Strank, Harlon Block, and Franklin Sousley; the latter three men died later in the battle. Strank was a Sergeant who refused several promotions during the battle in order to "Bring his boys back to their mothers." Block was a Corporal who reported to Strank, and the rest were Privates in the Marines, except for John Bradley, a Navy Corpsman who administered first aid to Easy Company of 2d Battalion, 28th Marines, 5th Marine Division, the company to which all the flag raisers were assigned.

I read that book. I do also recommend it.

Just reading the bios of these boys who grew up in the great depression - suffered and scrapped to help their families get by - then fought and died as young men for this great country was humbling. For the most part -baby boomers, gen Xrs and whatever the hell they are calling the young people of today have truly no clue what suffering and sacrifice really means. I include myself in this and don't want to get political about this - its more about how good we got it now and how clueless we (generally) are about how difficult it was for earlier generations like these guys.

but what do we do?
Simple! Take back your country, take back your life. Buy things made in the US, spend a few cents more for homemade products. Tell retailers that you will not buy offshore goods, tell them that you want domestic product, and back it up with your buying. Support local businesses.

EVERY anniversary it should be front page news. Not how big Kim K's *** is or who she's screwin this week or how big of a ho her mama is. We're lost as a country.

Very Well Said Guys.
Imagine what they would say now seeing what has happened
So many to give the ultimate sacrafice and scars for the rest of their lives
Seeing a Japanese name plate everwhere they look and no pride to be American

short and sweet take the goverment back and you'll get the country back , alot of people are to f lazy ,look at the culture back then and now ,where's the respect , thats all I got to say :angryfire:

Oh believe me our whole household does Satman but that isn't going to fix the lack of work ethic that is seething through our society. Can you imagine our countries pulling together these days for an effort like WWII. Too many lazy entitled SOBs....at least down here.
