Jegs generators ?? Anyone know about the A iPower gens?

Get one with a Honda engine with a nice quiet muffler.
Wish I could afford one......can barely swing this one. It's the cheapest one of this size that I've found so far.

I can't find the engine brand on Jegs site-probably Chinese. It does look nice and 2 year warrantee is good but, do you have to send it back to Jegs for warrantee service?
Mike
Yes, it's Shineese and that's pretty much an industry standard now and no, you contact the manufacturer. I would assume they have service centers locally to work on them but will check with them before buying. I have a brand new 'Restinghouse' 5300 that is putting out a bit too much 'dirty' current for me. It's on loan with option to buy but would really like to have a little bit bigger one. Am about to contact customer service to find out where to take it to have it checked. The data sheet says <23% THD but man, if it's on the high side, I don't want it even as a back up to the main gen. My 20+ year old Generac was much better even after all the hours I put on it and have no idea how many total hours are on it since I got it used.

I've got an ancient Dewalt from 20 years ago that still works great.
has a Honda motor but is very loud

The engine on my old one still runs fine but the gen part smoked. Need to take a look at it before it gets canned.....

Hey Cranky, explain what you mean by “dirty current” please. I’m in the market for a generator, I’m not familiar with THD. Thanks.

I say go with the best...Generac. You won't be disappointed.

Menards has 11% right now.
Coworker got one for his new camper, happy with the price. Think it was a Ford, but they have Brigs and Generac as well as other brands.
And some of those A-is

I wish that we had Menard's in the south. They are such a great store.

It's nice when they run the 11% and then I put it on my card(paid off monthly)and get 2% back quarterly, so 13% even if I buy sale items. With the whole remodel I'm doing I need every penny.

Plug in a regular light bulb. My old one wouldn't get off the idle control with the LED lights unless there was several plugged in. Anyways, when you see the light flickering, the generator isn't putting out very clean electricity. THD means 'total harmonic distortion'...... https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=what+is+thd+in+generators

"Enough power for whole-house and emergency use
  • What will it Power: Lights, TV, refrigerator, pump, air conditioner, and fan, all at the same time. It is capable of running 2 to 3 power tools"
Yea, I call BS.. My AC has 2 60 amp breakers. P=I*E. therefore, 60*240=14,400Watts per unit. The 7K generator couldn't run the air handler, let alone all of the stuff they claim. I run fans, lights, TV, fridge, freezer, and a few other things on my 7K diesel generator. I turn off the AC, and disconnect the water heater, but everything else runs.

Hey cranky , I have Lincoln A/c D/c Ranger Gxt welding Machine in my double garage which is wired 220 to house , with a plug and a heavy heavy short cable double male , kill main in house , fire up machine plugged in and throw breaker in garage , powers all house except a/c , which I use a portable roll around unit in bedroom or where ever , I think Northern tool has very good price on them !

P.s can be adapted to natural gas easily, starts on gasoline, switch to natural gas!

I have a 6,000 watt Kubota 2 cyl. 16.5 HP diesel generator on my Kenworth. The last ice storm that we had, it ran my whole house minus the central air without missing a beat. I never even took my Generac out of the garage. Being diesel, I can run it continuously for days without worry. And it's quiet.

I personally won’t have anything but one powered by a Briggs and Stratton and prefer older units, parts are usually very easy to get and I think the may be better built in my book. Many times I’ve needed Honda parts and they stink getting quick... Briggs, make a run to the farm and home or rural king and usually find something to make it go. Look for American made unit and stay away from chinesium.
