Guys, in junkerup dudes latest U tube vid, Chris B and his bud travels to Utah and buys three cars. That crumpled shell of a Challenger is beyond repairable to me....why did the bud want it, because of the vin and fender tag....and then to a nicer donor car....

And we almost made it through the month without the VIN swap black hole debate...
I watched the original " Gone in 60 Seconds" the other day. Swapping the orange cars vin...

people just go for it these days. rebodies almost seem to be accepted. I've have yet to hear about anyone getting in trouble for it. it appears to me law enforcement doesn't give two shits about it.

Who is Chris B & why should I care about this guy, whoever he is, buying junk?
Chris Birdsong is a fella out in Las Vegas who simply loves Chargers and takes some of the roughest
examples you've ever seen and brings them back to life for himself and for resale to others.
The guy is seriously talented at metalwork, which is why I enjoy his channel on YT - no shortcuts
with this guy. He knows every pinch weld on those and cuts no corners repairing the cars.

He's also got a serious knack for finding said Chargers (and Mopars in general, to an extent) for lots
less than they go for these days and has become "famous" enough that people who have them now
contact him with the one sitting out in their own fields or whatever.

He does all his work at his makeshift shop at home in the blazing heat of Las Vegas, yet often you'll
find him road tripping all over the country to fetch yet another Charger he has no space for all year
round.
What are other people's "hopeless" crap, he can make as new and is not afraid of them.

He'll drive any of 'em too, pretty or junk and is quite a successful dirt track racer like his dad was.

Whoops, was not aware vin swaps was a hot topic, not wish to open a can of worms. But my sentiments exactly, moparedts, on Chris. His metal skills blow me away and are very inspiring to watch. Gezzzz, if that dude had a shop with room I cannot imagine. Damn, how does he do all that in his driveway in the blistering heat. A true craftsman for sure. It was his bud getting the crunchy car, NOT Chris. To quote someone in my other thread, All Turds Matter, way to save them Chris........

The car wasn't a Challenger, it was a 71 Cuda... probably the most valuable of all the E-bodies... it was very rough, but Chris can handle just about anything. It will be fun to watch the progress of the build or the "SELL" ... Chris has talent, vision and tenacity.... NEVER SAY NEVER !!

That guy would be completely out of business if he tried that in Sacramento. The assclowns in this state voted in such a wacko group of overbearing busybody politicians, they crack down on people that wash their own cars outside.

I lived in Santa Cruz for one year back in 94-95 my neighbor called the cops on me literally 6-7 times... Even back then you weren't allowed to work on your own car in your own driveway.... Needless to say I had to GTFO of there... But I did call the cops on my neighbor when he was installing his new license plates.... Oh, did I mention I was actually friends with allot of the cops since I worked on allot of their cars.... They wrote him a nice ticket....

exactly...…… it's called rust repair

I saw what Mark on Graveyard Carz went thru to save that orange/red e body in the early shows but , geezzz, I thought that 71 Cuda, not Challenger, thank you, was beyond doable....but hey, time , effort and enough money makes most things possible.....yes, rust repair......

I absolutely do not understand California's laws, rules or whatever. It almost sounds like another country.

Yep, God Bless Y'all for living there. Hopefully you make a ton of Money to deal with all the stupidity.

I like the Charger Chris named 'Daisy'.
I'll have to go find a build update now...

I’m a little late to this party but I only bought that yellow Cuda, not challenger as yard art...it was only $600 and was a real curious yellow, 383/4 speed car. I had zero intentions of restoring it, im not wealthy and restoring that car would of been every panel in the AMD catalog so pretty much It would of been a rebody for sure, it was hammered and rotted. Some guy in Cali sent me a message asking if I would sell it, no was my answer and then he said would 5k take it? Yup bring ur trailer...How could I turn that down. So I do not own that yellow cuda anymore.
