Just bought a 71 Charger... going to a 5.7 I think

I sincerely doubt that would work but I will look at it when I get the car gutted.

While I know you are a smart guy, I would point to the fact that no one else has accomplished moving the shifter behind the T bar support so they would not have to cut it, in fact every high end custom car builder I have seen does exactly that so that would leave me to believe that there is a pretty good reason. I could be wrong and perhaps its as simple as no one has thought it but I kinda think that isn't the case. I would think that it be easier to machine a new shifter mount than cut the support. Personally, I think it will put the shifter too far backwards, kind of like in a AC cobra which means the handle will have to come forward.

As I read in your other comment's on work before project to make money is always first. From what you have shown on the post your making progress. Some time's it is slow but your moving ahead. Good job waiting too see the finished project.

I am pretty methodical with my projects, they don't always follows a specific pattern but I have a procedure but more importantly I have a concept of what I want the end to be. Its not super firm, more general in nature but it gives me an idea of how to proceed. Along with the overall concept is the complexity of the build. My Cuda was very complicated and required a lot of fabrication, this car will much less complicated but will be solid. The objective is to have a very solid reliable driver that looks good but more importantly is very reliable and fun to drive. It is going to be a Super Bee clone I think and will have all the things I love about the era; pistol grip, air grabber and probably spoilers. It will be low and will handle and stop well.

just in case you change of mind

( is just about patiente )

Anyone have any recommendations on motor mounts? I see that there are quite a few different ones.

TTI and Schumacher were used on a buddies 67 Coronet with a 2014 5.7 and my cousin's 67. Dart GT with a 2012 5.7 and 4spd OD (et 12.40's stock, 3.23's). Have heard or saw no issues with either. I tend to lean towards the cousins methods as he is meticulous and logical as I try to be (Mazak machinist), ( he's also a lifelong Mopar guy, electrician). I plan to use TTI, I know it works. I'll add that, if they are of a reputable source and are dimensionally equivalent and have structural "integrity", any brand should suffice. I recently inquired about the Holley set up. They put the block 1" forward for a particular sensor I'm pretty sure that I cannot think of right this second as to not have to mod your firewall using a newer Gen3.

Thanks, it will be some time before I need some but I am doing some research. I intend to run AC on the car so there is that.

Still have not gotten any time to work on this car, in fact it is still on the rotisserie wrapped up and under one of my new carports. I did however just order a new 392 cam and valve springs for the 5.7 though. Still have to finish the 69 Ply wagon and then pull the drive train out of a 70 Sport Satellite and replace it, then put new quarters on a 70 RR and install the 440 and Richmond 5 speed into it along with what I suspect will be a host of other things.

I pulled the trigger and bought a 392 cam and valve springs for the 5.7, just got them yesterday.

Wow I dont ever expect to have a car close to the ones in those pics. Hell I'd pay alot if I could even find a reliable place that cared about cars all the Dodge places are pre 70 out here and won't even talk to you.

Not sure what you are saying; do you mean you are looking for a car or someplace to work on a car?

Wild and impressive. Keep us up on the build and how it turns out.

I definitely will once I get a chance to actually work on my car... I have spent the last 3 days working on the tailgate of the 69 wagon I am doing for a guy, it was really rusty at the bottom and unfortunately wagon stuff is harder to come by than Hemi stuff.

Still haven't worked on my car (its going to be awhile) but I have been shopping for parts... LOL So far I have bought a DBW pedal (the Jeep GC one), the cam and springs I already mentioned and I just bought a set of take off 18 Mustang GT brake calipers from eBay for like $272. I am not sure if I am going to use them but I am going to try; my hesitation is the wheel requirement, I am not sure I want to run 18" wheels. I might try using some smaller rotors but we will see. In the grander scheme of things I would have liked to use the 15" steel rims but I just don't think that is going to happen.

I love what 17" performance tires did to my fury and there's still good sidewall to them
