Proud owner of a 1963 Plymouth Belvedere with a 426 WEDGE motor, originally had STAGE III heads, aluminum front-end, no back seat, rear frame rails moved inboard, etc.

INDY heads and Intake, replaced the STAGE III heads and intake, which is really why I joined.

I broke a roller rocker, not a pleasing experience, and with it I bent a push rod. What I need to do is examine the lifters and ensure they are not damaged, as well I need to examine the cam to ensure I didn't damage that as well.

All this means is that I have to remove the head, headers, intake, and valley pan .... simple yeah !!!!!!

Headers are a problem to remove. The steering box is in the way ... the steering shaft is in the way. If I can remove the steering box I can move the steering shaft out of the way and the headers come out ... the head gets removed and the broken/damaged pieces can be replaced.

Anyone know a simple way to remove the steering box?

The steering box on my '64 Belvedere was held in place by 3 bolts. They take a 12 pt. socket as I recall. I think that I used a long extension and a universal joint socket for 2 of the bolts. You should be able to loosen the steering column and remove the steering shaft flex joint from the steering box first. There is a master spline on the shaft, so I mark the joint with a marking pen before I remove it from the shaft to make it easy to identify when installing it again. Good luck with your project.

BTW... be sure to use Loctite on the threads of the steering box bolts when you install the box.

welcome aboard. i got one of those also. 63's are my favorite. you shouldnt have to remove the steering box to get everything out.
its not my 1st rodeo.

take out your exhaust bolts 1st. drain antifreeze, remove intake, remove valley cover, take out rocker, lifters, pushrods, head bolts, remove head and exhausts should come right out with heads out.
