Just ordered a Borgeson power steering box

I have a '69 Charger with ps. I've been going back and forth between the Firm Feel stage 2 box and the Borgeson box for a while. I like the idea of the 14:1 ratio without changing the arms. I know there have been complaints about the fitment of the Borgeson in the past, but others have said it's a perfect fit. I'm going with the Bergman direct-fit coupler as mine needs replacing anyway and I don't want to cut the shaft.
I've already done the shim mod and it's an improvement in steering effort, but that's it. Not sure how much of an improvement (if any) the Borgeson box will be, but I'm going to give it a shot. Hope to have it installed within a few weeks.
I'll report back.
 
I had a FF stage 2 Box and switch to the Borgeson which I like much better. Less squishy feel overall. I did run into a couple of bad power steering pumps but will get that fixed and have no regrets going with the Borgeson. Smaller lighter with a better turning radius. I put this on a stock front end and headers without having to do any surgery using the Borgeson universal u joint as I'll be changing out the steering column eventually. Had hoses made and also have a cooler hooked up

i did a borgerson n coupler from bergman autocraft. i ended up using a borgeson power steering hose kit which i sourced from summit racing.

freeway speeds handling is awesome.

you will like it.

You'll love it, I did the swap a few years back and loved it. I wasted money on a 'rebuilt' OE box, could never adjust it right. The Borgeson was nice. We put one up to four different K members and it fit all four differently, we had to do just some minor grinding on the housing. Be sure it sits flush on the mounts, if it doesn't then see where it hits and just knock it down a little. I also used the Bergman kit, it was really nice. Get the Borgeson hoses, the box has metric fittings and his hose kit fits the box, the NAPA kit won't fit. It won't have that one-finger steering anymore, but it will also stop wandering lane to lane when you look over your shoulder. I've installed about 6 of these now on various A, B, and E body cars, small and big block. everyone loved the Borgeson unit.

We did on an A body, on a B body I haven't seen anyone do it on early (→65) but have heard people with 66→ and liked it. But no real experience on the B body K member.
 
You can't always place blame on the rebuilder....These Mopar chucks are based on 1957 technology. Firm Feel does the best that they can with them but cannot make up for advancements that occur in 61 years.
 
I love my Borg box. Steering feels very close to a modern car. I think you will really like it.

I wasn't blaming any rebuilders, I said the one that I purchased was claimed to have been rebuilt but wasn't, and I had issues with it.

But you did hit on the key point to the Borgeson box: it's not 50 year old technology as they're brand new boxes off of a modern vehicle, then resplined to fit the pitman arm.

I had the Borgenson box in my Dart with the QA1 k frame. Fit was great, but headers had to be clearenced. Pissed my off something fierce. I ended up going back y to manual cause I needed cooling and the power steering pump pulley was occupying the same space as the fan, so it had to go.

I have the borgeson with the whole QA1 front end kit on my 64 Belvedere. Works great...really like the 14:1 ratio. Was easier to order the borgeson lines with the proper fittings, although they could be a bit shorter. Slant 6 pressure spring in the saginaw ps pump helps with the road feel...unless you like one finger steering. Went from manual steering so had to cut/drill the shaft for the bergman stock style coupler.

Lots of room with the TTI headers. The only real clearance issue was the pump with Bouchillon brackets and the steel bladed fan. Spacer for the fan from the junkyard off a 318(same bolt pattern as big block) and some washers on the brackets to line up the ps pump properly. Should also mention that the 440 got moved back with the later mounts on the QA1 K member.

Did not know about the mounts.... i bought a sepentine set up and it uses the GMII type pump...I need to talk to Bergman and see if the pressures require an prop valve...

Early B bodies have the engine set forward roughly 1-3/4" to 2" from the 66 and up B bodies.

Check with Jeff Grantmeyer at Borgeson, not Bergman. Jeff is a friend of mine, he knows his stuff with these steering systems.
