Kick down cable settings..

I'm not sure. I have a fuel leak so after I get that repaired I'll test drive and get back to you.

I must have gotten lucky,i readjusted my kickdown linkage,(lokar) an now i have passing gear and it down shifts, thanks to this thread,it shifts into drive around 38 mph,so im leaveing it alone

Yes, the instructions are just a starting point. It says leave extra cable until final adjustments are made then cut off leaving 1/2 inch past the retainer thing.

Glad you have a happy shift point.

Hi Mechanic,i have the lokar cables also,at what speed does your tranny down shift,i have to be almost stopped for it to down shift, infact if go around a corner is dosent drop down into second .does the cable need to be re ajusted, other then that the tranny works perfect
Thanks
I too have this same conidition, I have been down shifting it manually to aviod burning out the 3rd gear clutch pack.
Adjusting of the shift cable changed nothing.

For me ,i pulled the cable untill i felt some resistence and tightened down there.Maybe that could be a starting point ,hope it works for you

Same here. And my tranny was worked on by a tranny guy who's been doing it since 1970.

Well now my tranny wont shift into drive ,must have over adj.back to the drawing board

Mrkinger If you have the cable shift transmission you may need to adjust the shifting cable adjusting wheel on the tranny.

I backed off the cable at the carb, and it seems okay now and i still have passing gear ,but you never know what tommorrow may bring. Thanks Lenny
