kids and 60s cars

I'd say it could be cumbersome but look for a vintage seat and research the safty and compatability. It would also make an interesting conversation piece.

I dont remember car seats back then. I remember being two and standing up in the back seat of my dads vert. That was real freedom. oh yeah!!!

As a firefighter, I've seen people die who didn't have to because they chose to not wear a seatbelt. Sorry for the soapbox.

That may be so but there are people who have died due to a seatbelt. I know the odds are better wearing one MOST of the time. I was hit on the interstate running over 60 about 2 1/2 yrs ago. I was thrown out of my 78 cj7 and lived. There is no way i would have survived in the jeep. It barrel rolled down the median before landing on its tires. I guess when its your time God takes you.

Yup - nothing is 100%. You were really fortunate - not many survive an ejection like that.

Well I grew up in the car and there were 6 of us so my dad added 2 lap belts after CA passed a law that everyone must buckle up, he was told that he didnt have to alter the car because it only came standard with 4 buckles but he added the lap belts for safety plus then we couldn't fight over who didnt have to buckle up! So I have 6 buckles, but they are all lap belts. We were hit numerous times in the car, I remember people in the 90s would use our car if their brakes went out, no dents or anything, but we never got hurt being kids in lap belts. So if it was safe for me and my brothers being young and in no car seat at my boys age. I would think then my boys in a booster/car seat should also be safe as well, right? I dont really have anywhere to attach a full seat belt my car is the vynal top with all of that leather so I just dont think I could properly anchor a shoulder belt to it. My kids are 5 (almost 6) 4 (5 in days) 2 and soon a new born. This will be the car I drive every day, so once the little one comes my oldest(will be 6 by then) will have to ride up front. Its not like their are air bags, I was told that is why kids cant ride up front an air bag can decapitate them.
