295/50-15 on 15x10" and 5,5 inch backspace, in the rear of my 1970 RR.
It fits, but barly clears passangerside leafsprings. Big swaybar and HD-leafsprings reduced body roll and rubbing.

I’ve seen a 295/50/15 on the rear of a 68 GTX. Tight fit for sure.

That's the set up I'm looking for 295/50/15 rear and 235/60/15 in front so will this work on my 69 GTX ?

It will fit, IF you have the perfect backspacing on the rear wheels.

IF you have 295s on a 15x10, your bs will have to be VERY close to 5.5" (slightly more might be better, you could use a spacer to get them exactly where they need to be. )
On a 15x8/8.5, you will probably need 4.5 to 4.75 bs to make a 295 work, and the 295 is a bit wide for an 8" wheel.
You do know how to measure backspace, right?
3 1/2 to 4" bs.... not a freaking prayer they'll fit.... without jacking the *** end up about six inches.

In my humble opinion.... a 10"rim can work on a 68-70 bee, because of the more open wheelwell. I DONT think a 10 works on a rr/gtx. It's simply too big.
That tire that he just cut up MIGHT have worked fine on the right 8/8.5 rim.

15x10 will work with the right offset. The wheels on the yellow GTX have way too little backspace. These are 295/65R15 on a 15x10 which are probably the upper limit without spring relocation and mini tubs…

Clearly, it fits on your car (tightly!) because you have the exact correct backspace. Without the dead-on bs, the 295 is not gonna work. I bet the 295 is easier to fit on an 8 1/2 than on a ten. And frankly, I have a couple cars with BIG tires, (back-halfed and tubbed)I think I'd settle for an easy to fit 275 for my rr.

well my buds 70 gtx with air shocks pumped up we got a pair of 12.50 wide 30 tall on 15x8 kestones classics , he ran L60x15 on 10x15 ansen sprint for the street . funny thing i had those goodyear slick on my 66 sat , but i had to modify the wheel houses a bit , lol .

The reason I was asking is because on my 70 Challenger R/T I was running P235X60X15s front and P295X50X15s rear with 4 to 4.5 Back space on Vintiques 7s Magnum 500s front and 8s 500s rear and yes 8 inch wheels will hold a 295 tire got that info on the Mickey Thompson website. If I need to put Air shocks I will only if I can manage this using only 2inch max height I don't like that late 60s look just 2 inch higher in the rear that's how I like my rides. I hope I can pull this off on my GTX what do you all think. Be kind.

My opinion? There is a huge difference between 4" backspace and 4 1/2. 4 1/2 has about a 100% better chance of working with a 295, than a 4" .
I've got a 10x28x16 slick, (wider and taller than a 295x50x15) on an 8.5"rim with 4.75 bs that fits my 69 rr perfectly. With a 4" bs, it would NOT fit.
