Nice, I've always wondered if you guys look foward to putting the car away for the winter. I can see it's an oportunity to make repairs and upgrades. Do you plan ahead and order the parts needed. So when you take them off the road, you can start? Or do you take them off road, and figure out what you like to do and start ordering parts?
When spring time come's is it crunch time to finish the project and get the car back out.
I live on an Island, so there is limited places I can drive, but we are able to drive pretty much all year round.

Minnesota here, I don't look forward to parking the fun cars, but it happens every year. Winter is a great time to work on projects and upgrades so I try to make the most of it. I enjoy wrenching as much as I enjoy driving. Two winters ago, I pulled the engine out the bottom and did a major rehab of the engine and engine compartment. It also got new QA1 UCA's. urethane suspension bushings and Hotchkis adjustable strut rods. I try to have the parts ordered and on hand to avoid delays from backorders and keep shipping costs from getting out of hand.

Last winter I installed new TTI headers and a complete 3" exhaust system. There were some minor projects too, but with 5-6 months of winter there was no rush.

This winter's projects will be adding a brake hydro-boost system and replacing some window track hardware. I have all of the window hardware waiting, the lead time for the hydro-boost kit was several months so it's a good thing I planned ahead. It should show up here any day.

I see it as somewhat of a double edged sword. It would suck to put the car away but also give you that stress-fee opportunity to carry out upgrades or fix things.

I can drive year-round here which is great, but if the car is off the road for more than a week or so I get agitated at all the driving time I'm missing out on.

I hate the fact we pay insurance for 12 months but only drive them half that.

Check with your insurance carrier, you might be able to drop collision and liability during the off season.
