I am thinkg about installing a 1968 trans in my '65. The '65 shift and park cables bot have leaks and new cables are way above of my pay grade. Seems that I have heard about a later factory trans mount that will fit the early crossmember and the later trans. Can anyone verify this with more info.

Schumacher Creative Services has a trans mount just for this. I have a late model trans in my Sat and that's what I used. It's a polyeurathane mount, not exactly cheap (I think 90 bucks) but it lifts the tail of the trans up where it belongs and puts the holes in the right place. I used a modified factory mount with spacers before this, that worked ok too.

There's a company called Imperial Sevices that can modify your cable setup to operate the later model transmission. I used an afterarket shifter (Hurst Pro-matic) mounted in the factory console. Prior to that I modified my factory console cable shifter to use a B&M type cable. It worked but the shifter was sloppy to begin with and that's why it was replaced.

Imperial Services is A-1 to work with. They will take good care of you.

Schumacher mount and Imerial Services are one and the same. I ordered mine from Schumacher and it had "Imperial Services" moulded right into the rubber (or whatever it is).

Mine was $79 + shipping IIRC.

Oh yeah, worked perfectly too.

I've heard of people modifying a-body mounts and such, I used my original mount (modified, turned backwards and the holes elongated, spacer on top to lift the tail of the trans) for a while but it was old so I replaced it.

The conversion mount is similar to the original except it's taller and the holes match the later trans. It's also made of polyeurathane. Definitely not an A-body mount.

$79.00 (+ $12 S&H) ain't exactly cheap for a trans mount but you'll probably never buy another one. They also have poly engine mounts with interlocking flanges so they can't tear apart, something the originals are notorious for when you put enough power to 'em.

My cables were leaking also:icon_hang:I slid rubber fuel hose over the shifter cables and sealed the trans ends with red silicon and small hose clamps:idea1:

Hemi..........Did that cure the leaks? I absolutely hate oil drips of any kind.

Actually, I believe Imperial makes them, but Schumacher sells them. I don't think they are the same company, though. Other vendors sell cables that Imperial makes - and Imperial sells direct as well.
