my staffie had the same thing after a day at the beach( salt water does it) was not fun for backseat passengers ,every time it barked ... well you get the drift

Any water will do it. My old boss's Chesapeake used to **** it brains out, after swimming for so long. Eventually it was all water. He would keep jumping off the boat and swimming forever. The whole time he was in the lake, he was so excited...he'd bark non-stop. Other people were always yelling that he was drowning. It was a funny sight.
