I had my leaf springs modded a few years ago, also had the small add a leaf in there. The guy who did the work ask me how much lift I wanted and we ended up adding a full length leaf, re-banding and re-arching based on the original base line measurement + 2.5". The MP leafs I bought sagged in 1.5 years :(
I needed more lift for MT 275's in the back.

The car sits a little high and I would like to remove the bottom leaf to see how that looks.

I have removed the leaf springs and reinstalled years back, and now I have a 2 post lift.

I was wondering opinions or experience with removing the bottom leaf on the lift without putting the car on the ground and removing the whole leaf spring assembly. Also have Caltracs installed.

Maybe a stupid question and I am missing something obvious here... not quite sure?

Thanks

You will need post jacks to support the housing,or make some type of sling to hold the housing up. Remove the u-bolts,shockplate etc. Clamp springs together, remove center bolt.Do what you need to do at that point.Get some extra center bolts before you start. You may or may not need them.

Would the rear end not already be supported by the leaf springs now without adding post jacks? Thanks

Yes but you will have to lift the housing to remove the center bolt to dis-assemble the leaf pack. One jack would do.Or a ratchet strap in a pinch.

That worked great Darter6, went smooth and easy. I did have one tall adjustable jack, just did one at a time, worked great. Thanks!
