LED light blown, ow do I fix this?

I installed a LED light for a low oil pressure warning light but it soon quit working. Is there a capacitor that I need to install to prevent this from happening again. I figured it was a matter of hooking them up but I thought I read somewhere that LED lights need something added in-line when you install them.

Most LEDs run around 3 volts, some colours slightly higher. So you will need a resister soldered in place to drop 12V battery voltage down to a level the LED will live with.

easier to get a 12v LED bulb....usually you can get 2 for less then $5 off ebay with free shipping. I put LED bulbs in the turn bulbs in the Charger..kinda too bright at night

what number bulb was original? you can go to ebay and in search line type in "57 led bulb white"
