Legendary Interiors - Arm rests for 67 Coronet..no ashtray hole on right front?

Hmm, so I wonder if that only applied to console cars, and or Chargers.

I've had several 66 and 67 Coronets (but not a 500, or a console car).
None had any front arm rest ashtray.

I would swear I've seen sevral 67 console Satellite, GTX and R/T cars without them as well.

On a different note- IIRC A body console cars (at least my 73 Duster) had a dash ash tray and a console ash tray, each with a lighter!

Where do I send the $1?

did not apply to only console cars...I got a number of 67 Chargers with buddy seat that also has passenger door ashtray....

again, not sure if it carried over to Coronet or Plymouth either...but every 67 Charger made had ashtray in passenger side......

back to original post, nobody makes the 13" armrest with ashtray insert...it was a one year only item.....and yes, the larger "C" body cars had full size arm rests in the rear, you can swap them for the fronts in our cars...gonna be hard to find now

it's not an option...66 Chargers only had armrests in the rear short arm rests. In 67, Chrysler put an ashtray in the passenger door armrest but not the drivers door. All Of the first Generation Chargers were this way. Coronets also from what I have determined.

Now, does anyone know why?

Answer: Note the dash ashtray is on the drivers side of console...passengers had to reach way over to use the ashtray, so shifter was sometimes in the way. So ashtray was put on passenger door. Note in 68, they moved dash ashtray to center of dash.

no, they didn't...you will never see a 66 or 67 Charger with ashtray in drivers door armrest from factory

I'll take yer dollar now

The light bulb moment! Thanks mate, very useful post. Yesterday while driving my car (and before I revisited this post), I wondered where the front DASH ashtray was on my car. I had never looked or noticed it before. So I instinctively reached directly in front of me and there it was! Now reading your post, I see why '67's got the ashtray for the passenger in their arm rest at the front. Thanks! You cleared things up for me. I 'still' have a new arm rest with NO ashtray, but at least now I can plan/consider cutting it up to put my original ashtray back in it..I think it could be possible and still look and function ok.

ANd after ALL that, no one will EVER smoke in this car again anyway! ;) LOL

66 Coronet 500 only ash trays in the rear armrest. The interior of my car is still the 1st one.... never redone...

My 67 coronet 440 4 door has them in both rear armrests... bench seat and the fronts have none... I would assume there is no real consistency to whether they have them or not. There was a thread on here with a guy had thousands of them for sale not too long ago...
I would be curious to how you cut the hole... hot knife?

I just saw this thread.
I can not speak 100% for 67 Coronets, however 1967 Charger had an ashtray in the passenger side front armrest.
66 did not ... only 67. Available on Coronet ... don't know.
But Charger, yes!

It's the same for '67 Coronet. I have the info on that now.
