Lesson of Less weight in the rear of the car

mike, stiff or soft does it matter on launches i am guessing yes but why. i'm thinking soft to stick better and hard for tire spin control. what do tubes have to do with it.
My car is heavy (about 3800lbs on the line) and you need a stiff sidewall tire so the weight of the car does not crush the tire on the launch. The tubes just make the tire sidewalls stiffer...and to run 17lbs of air so the weight of the car would not make the tires cup up in the middle.
This all worked fine until I took 183lbs out of the car....120lbs of that was from the rear axle back with the installation of a pin on fiberglass deck lid (10lbs versus 70lbs for the stock steel deck lid) I also took out 1 of my 2 optima batteries and replaced the steel floor in my trunk with an alumimum floor and ditched the 10 gallon plastic fuel cell for a 5 gal aluminum fuel cell....120lbs total out of the trunk area.

Hmmm- maybe no tubes or ??? Great either way!

I run about 16 psi in my 30 x 9 Hoosier radial slicks and my car goes about 3725 to 3750 depending on how much gas I have in it. But its always hooked good at that psi. Good luck Mike , Ron
