I needed to replace a couple hydraulic lifters so i bought a couple from Summit Racing.

Soaking them in oil and i noticed the new ones are stiffer than the others.

Is this a problem? Should i change the others also so that the spring tension match?

Engine is a mild build 383 for the street.

Yeah, I'd be wanting a matched set. What happened to the first two? "Needed to replace" why?

engine was rebuilt 10 years ago and put in the corner until the project was ready, never started.

3 valves were partially open and the lifter partially collapsed, for ten years.

those open springs are also now suspect
matched lifters?
you could rebuild/ clean those lifters- nothing there to go wrong

I replaced all 16. Lifters, springs, locks and retainers. Went w/all CompCams stuff. Lubed the entire valvetrain like I was breaking in a new cam and ran between 2,200 and 2,600 RPMs for 20 minutes.
VERY happy with the results.

Well, as far as break in then, they'll likely be ok. Still have to do a break in cycle. Sounds like you have disassembled them? If they're permanently collapsed, I'd still want a matching set.

I replaced them all. Fed Ex just backed up the driveway.
