Are they required for drag racing with slicks? It used to be that the stud had to be seen through the nut and stock was fine with steel wheels. If I must have long studs then a brand and part number for a 66 B body 8-3/4 would be appreciated. I'd like to get them from Summit with a few other things I need.

Thanks.

That's some good info. Must not have been searching correctly the first time but I did find MoPar studs from Summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-4120625/ I think I'll give this a shot.

Now the question is am I going to be able to get the wheels off my 66 B body with the long studs! Not much room in those wheel wells!!

I have to use a floor jack on the frame to get the wheels out of my 66 with the long studs. I have 15x10 wheel,4.5 backspace with a 28x11.50x15 tire.

Unless the rules have changed, stock studs work with steel wheels. So long as you have open nuts and you have a couple of threads sticking out of the nuts, you should be good to go. Having 2 1/2" of thread sticking out of the nuts does nothing to help insure the wheels stay on the car and do nothing to aid in getting the wheel/tire off the car. Now if you plan on using the wheels with the thick centers such as the Weld racing wheels, then the stock studs are not going to be long enough.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I don't want to go the long stud route unless I have to, but it sounds like I will be fine with steelies. Thanks all for the input.

yes, definatley use the frame to raise car up ! and might want to pick up some 1" lugnuts also, much easier the take on and off with regular deep socket !!

I put the 1.5" stock length Moser studs from Summit in and I have almost no threads showing. Think you need at least a 2" stud. This is with steelies on and open lug nuts. Try to take a pic tonight and post it.
