You did your due diligence. Maybe it's a sign that something better is in your future. Good luck.
Thanks. This is definitely the perspective I'm trying to look at it through. A bit tough though with it so fresh. You did your due diligence. Maybe it's a sign that something better is in your future. Good luck.
Yup. This is the 4th time it's happened to me. Sucky feeling, especially when I'm trying to be as reasonable and respectful as possible.Yeah it sucks...been there myself.
That sucks man.Thanks. This is definitely the perspective I'm trying to look at it through. A bit tough though with it so fresh.

The seller even had some unusual expectations from me, which I attempted to oblige.
This whole thing stung a bit. Extraordinarily annoying.
Agree with it being a red flag. Sounds like he was tryin' to sneak something through. Wanted a cash commitment sight unseen (or thoroughly inspected). What exactly were these unusual expectations ( red flag ) he wanted from you ?
It was posted last Friday. I contacted him Saturday. That sucks man.
It is Craigslist though so you have to pounce when you see something.

I thought about that possibility. He had it worked on at a local shop which had it's pics on Google. You can see it pop up for FullAuto in Ann arbor. The guy Mike (super cool guy by the way) confirmed it was indeed real, through his service records.Did he actually have a car for sale or just someone's pictures...
I’ve never seen one of those either. 318 and /6, yes. But not a 383. Has anyone else ever seen that configuration?I never heard of a 3-speed column-shifted '70 RoadRunner. I know that Plymouth (and Dodge ) cheaped out in 1970 by offering the 3-speed manual transmission as standard equipment instead of the previously offered 4-speed, but always thought it had a floor mounted shifter.
I did, and thank you guys for the warm welcome. If anyone sees this post that has a 70 for sale, let me know! I'll consider all cars (even without paint/ drivetrains etc) if the price is realistic. I want to do a restomod anyways.Well, regardless hope you found all the fellas input useful being as you’re new to the site. And a formal welcome to FBBO from western NY!
It was a 727 torqueflight as far as I'm aware. He never sent me the fender Tag when I asked for it though. So I don't know full build specs.I’ve never seen one of those either. 318 and /6, yes. But not a 383. Has anyone else ever seen that configuration?
I posted about his expectations above. I was definitely ready to roll whenever the word was given. It was a weird circumstance. It sucks but "even after offering me first shot at it. I've been in contact with him since the day it was posted." Well if you've been in contact since the day it was posted & that day wasn't Today then you had your shot, You were sleeping when someone else was buying... Can't be sleeping if your serious... Just the way the market is....
That makes sense. The 3 speed (Ford) manual trans was floor shifted. I saw they only made 500. So most got the TF or the 883.It was a 727 torqueflight as far as I'm aware

Idk. I never had one. I thought I read the 3 speed manual was sourced from Ford. Three of my cars have the 18 spline New Process A883 4 speed manual. What? ford?
There seems to be a "thing" lately about calling an automatic trans a "three speed" and sometimes not not specifying it's an automatic, or not having the word "automatic" as the next word.
Not sure what that started but it's been going on for a few years.
Most of us would write "383, auto on column", not "383, three speed column shifted" and then have "auto" somewhere else in the description.
...but that what a lot of listings are like these days.
Sorry, I was running around trying to plan for the trip yesterday, and worded one of my replies wrong. I stated it was a 3 on the tree but I should have said it was a column shifted 3sp auto. My fault, sorry for the confusion.Idk. I never had one. I thought I read the 3 speed manual was sourced from Ford. Three of my cars have the 18 spline New Process A883 4 speed manual.
