Looking for 3D CAD files or detail drawings for big block mopar engines

Sorry if Ive posted this in the wrong spot. Im looking for 3D CAD files or detail drawings for a 440 engine block, does anyone know where I could find them? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
 
The 440 was designed on paper way before CAD came out...

It will be hard to find an accurate CAD model in any language for it...

Oh yea, definitely. I was assuming someone else might have wanted it and made a CAD model. Again, drawings so I can make a model or CAD. Or Ill just have to do it the hard way and sit down one night a measure the block out.
 
The technology to scan parts has made leaps and bounds the last 10 years. It's the direction I would look into if I was doing it. The scanners using cameras are the most interesting. I have hired a company called exact metrologies before....someone came with the equipment and did the scanning and I payed them by the hr. I brought the scanned images in 3d into solidworks and recreated my parts. A lot of the scanners are for small parts but a block is not so big. Bolt holes and straight surfaces are really easy to scan. Complex casting take a more high end scanning equipment. But it exist now. It didn't exist 10 years ago.

Good point. I have never used one of the scanning services before, but that would work for sure. Thanks.
 
Check out a company called Keyence. They have excellent product measurement and scan capabilities.
 
CAD drawings exist but the people who own those drawings spent a lot of money to create them. They aren't going to give you their CAD files.

Maybe, maybe not, people share CAD all the time. Or they might sell the files, which might be ok. Either way, its reasonable to ask the question and see what is out there or ideas people may have.
 
It isn't reasonable at all. I've been building big block parts for more than 20 years and nobody has ever given me CAD files. I have a few blueprints that I've found over the years but not any CAD files.

I know better than to ask vendors or suppliers to give me stuff they worked hard to develop, it is rude and is a good way to end a business relationship. People use those CAD files to make a living. They aren't going to give them away just because some guy wants to build some parts.

Thanks for sharing. Please do keep your files. Honestly and respectfully, I dont understand why you care what I ask for on here. It is my understanding that this is what open forums/ communities are for, a place to ask for help when you are all working towards the same goal(building a b body). Also Im not asking for the cad on new proprietary/IP protected tech. Im looking for something that is 50+ years old and several people probably already have this information by now. And for clarity, Im not interest in starting a business with said files, just building my car as explained earlier. And I do appreciate things from a business side and there hard work, but I am not asking a business, Im asking in a online forum. To that same note, if the business sold the CAD I would consider buying it.

Turbosquid has some free CAD files & buy-able CAD files, not sure they'll be accurate dimension-wise. I disagree with andyf's opinion on this. My own CAD files are pretty sparse compared to what you're needing. If I remember right, the install instructions included with a Mopar Megablock has a detail drawing of the front of a block.

I have drawings and CAD Files here at work for short deck, tall deck and Hemi's as we machined blocks for Mopar and for Koleno. However, I cannot release or share the info outside of work but may be able to help answer some questions.

Cool, good to know. I will keep this in mind as I go through.
 
I might have access to a block built that I can make a 3D scan of. If you want me to just let me know. It would take the better part of a few hours but I should be able to do it.

This thread has helped me with a project of my own though! Thanks guys!!
