I'm not looking to buy this car, I'd just like to know where it it these days. It's a customized '66 HEMI Charger that was in Tulsa for many, many years. A gentleman named Al Pena owned it (from new, IIRC). It was a pearl copper color with the original HEMI in it. It was on the ISCA show circuit for several years during his ownership, and won quite a few awards. He did the Starbird circuit (OKC-Tulsa-Wichita) for some time, but was not afraid to drive the car on the best of days!

Al died in the mid-'80s, and the car faded from view and most people's memories. It stayed in Tulsa for several years after Al passed, then its whereabouts went unknown. I really wished I had a picture of the car, but many of my car photos from before 2003 got blown away in a tornado.

So, anyone know of the Charger??? Thanks.

I found a pic of the car recently. It's a '67 440 car.

The car still is in Tulsa the New owner has not done anything to it but drive it. it sat since 1989 when the previous owner was killed. i think he bought the car in 2004 and has shown it nothing but love and care, here is a pic from Darryl Starbird show last weekend sitting next to my Purple 70 66 Hemi.jpg66 hemi 2.jpg66 hemi engine.jpg66 Hemi 3.jpg

Outstanding! It's still looking great, I see. We're having a big Mopar show in downtown OKC the first Saturday of June, you guys are invited to come on down!

Any links or more info on the show in OKC? I'm interested mom and dad can bring the 68 Charger down too.

Another 66 hemi Charger!?! Those things are everywhere I tell you. Just curious, auto or 4 spd.?

Car was a 66 with a 361 eng. bought new by Ray Abdo. Son Alfred bought it. Installed 383 and had carefree highway body shop modify body and custom paint. Engine dropped a valve so 426 was bought from David Dover and rebuilt. I was a good friend of Alfred,s for many years. after his death ray sold the car. Does have a beefed up 727 torque flight in it. Do remember the front seats were from a satellite. Looked better. Hope this helps

I really miss seeing that car. In the mid-'80s, I saw it several times in Tulsa at various shows. It's quite the car, that is for sure!

I couldn't remember if Al's last name was Abdo or Pena, glad you refreshed that for me.
