Looking to re-Chrome? BEWARE of.......

I went with Tri-City from recommendations and cost. They were by far the cheapest I could find for my Charger bumpers. Don't know if I was just unlucky, but mine are terrible. Waves and sanding scratches everywhere. They have redone the bumperettes twice now. Once for a broken stud and more recently the chrome chipped off 2 of them when I installed them. I know I will never use them or recommend them to anyone. I guess next time I will spend a little more money and get better quality work.

Tri City brought me bumpers for my car to Carlisle as an exchange (with mine as cores). I rejected them because they weren't very good. I gave them my bumpers that were really nice cores and insisted I wanted "no excuse" bumpers. I made it clear that if they needed extra work to get them that way, that they should call me and I would fund reasonable additions. They heard me (didn't charge me any extra), and my bumpers turned out great. Again, I think the key is in the condition of the cores...

I know good chrome work isn't cheap but that's a little over the top. I know that the Jay Lenos of the world will pay whatever and not bat an eye, but most of us poor muscle car guys don't need $1000 bumpers. At least I don't.

I agree with you. Newly chromed or NOS is nice, but it sure doesn't make the car drive any better. Looks aren't everything.
