Hi folks,

A while back I found a great thread here about somebody who retrofitted a Hurst ProMatic 2 shifter into his factory console (automatic). Looks like something I would be interested in doing, but here is a general question - do you lose your backup lights with these aftermarket shifters? Or do some of them include a switch to activate the backup lights?

If you have a working neutral safety switch and backup lights now, you do not have to change anything. Those functions are preformed by the existing neutral safety switch in the transmission and the existing wiring harness. The ProMatic ll has micro switches for the nss and backup lights if needed but there's no need for them in a working system. Their micro switches always struck me as being cheap.
