This is about an hour away from me & this is the 3rd time it's been on fleabay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Plym...0833543?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3a78906a87

Each time it's been on, the price rapidly goes to about 110K & then stops. Nice car indeed, but one of my pet peeves is cars not having the sides of the radiator supports flat black. With that level of restoraion, what's it take to rattle can the two supports?

I think it's more of a power thing for some people. They like to place big bids on items when they know they'll never have to pay for them.

Are you talking about behind the grille? Probably because body color is correct on that car.

I see cars with non blacked out rad supports far too often. Probably a Chevy guy turned MoPar when he saw prices going up.

This is wrong........

Hey ETM, or, ETA "Ack Ack", I too noticed this car weeks ago, and, also noticed how these areas should be flat black and are not! The cool thing about this car is the Q5 color, which happens to be the original color of my 69 GTX, and will return to that color too!

It might not LOOK right, but it may well be CORRECT. Spraying of the radiator support was hit and miss. Some got it black, some got it body color. It's been pretty well beat to death in all the magazines through the years.

The bolts are also missing from the rear bumper brackets.

Did you look at the bid history?
I like the guys who dropped at 4000 or 7500..LOL
Hey it doesnt hurt to take a shot right.

I used to be adamant about the rad support blackout. I actually still prefer it as it allows the grille to be the focal point. BUT, after years of being steadfast on my belief that it was absolutely the way the factory did it, my own FE5 Road Runner made me eat my words. Owned that car for years, even had the grille out of it at one time and didn't notice all that red staring at me. Finally one day I just happened to really look.
Dayum..........

There's a lot of little things you can pick apart on that car, like no seat belts, missing rubber shields on the fronts of the fenders, wrinkly back seat bottom, incorrect finish on the dash frame, missing heat tubes on the rh exhaust manifold, oil leaking from the cluch cover, to name a few.

In regards to the controversy of paint/no paint on the radiator supports; I'm sure that some cars got through without the rad paint treatment, which is probably due to some lazy assembly line worker not doing his job. Let's face it, they're supposed to have ithe paint, but with no paint, it sure ldoes look like a screw up on the restorer's part.

I think in the end, what is correct is what is original to the car. I've seen original cars both ways. I LIKE them black behind the grille, BUT that doesn't necessarily make them correct.

What do you guys think that this car is actually worth? Looks like a pretty nice restoration but it can't be worth as much as an unmolested survivor in similar condition.

With the exception of wing cars, I personally don't see any fully restored hemi B-body being worth more than 125 large; and that's for the desirable 68-71 models. Even at that, that's waaaaay too much. I'd love to get another hemi car, but I can have just as much fun in a 440. There are several B-bodies out there with larger asking prices & guess what; they're not moving.

That's a nice car I would love to have it, I'm not in the market, but I would like it, even with all it's flaws, but like it seems most Mopar guys are, "I'm a cheap a$$"...LOL... & would never pay that much for the car, no matter how much I like the cool Turquoise color & it's 426ci Hemi 4 speed Dana-60 stature... I personally don't care whether the rad. support, is it's body color or flat black, that a little to **** for me...LOL... My 68 RR RM23 is half & half from the factory, the bottom half of the radiator support, got some flat black, but the top half got next to none, they did a quick spray up from the bottom it looks like, on my LL1 Surf Turquoise, "the original color", much like the 69 GTX's Q5 Turquoise & it really stands out, on some colors it far more pronounced, than others... My 2 cents anyway

Can you really drive a car like that though? Daily? I'm sure you wouldnt want to or would you? Maybe not in the rain if you had a choice but .. but do guys with expensive type show cars drive them all the time or is by not driving them how they get to be expensive show cars?
See if it were me and I owned that I would hammer it when ever the mood struck me.. Like at every street light and stop sign, grab some air with it.... Drive the car like I do all of mine.

Ain't that the truth? Thing is, ain't nuthin much movin.

That is exactly what "got me in trouble" over that damn 63 Polara 500 MAX WEDGE convertible for $500K (Asking price)
I simply stated: It's a little pricey and Aluminum Superdutys' are pulling $200K+
Then I told the guy "that 4.3 million dollar Cuda" would not sell in this economy"
So, the "market" corrected itself, as it should have.
People are much more FRUGAL 2012.
