Heintzelmann....haven't heard that name in years!
That was a common name in these parts back in the 60s since Ken was born just a few miles from here. There was a Heintzelman a couple years ahead of me at school. Ken is buried 3 blocks from here.
Ken Heintzelman lived on Church street I believe. My wife is a Hollander, they have been in St Charles since the late 1800's. My wife grandfather was baptized in 1894 at St Charles Borromeo. It was a small town years ago!!
Yep! I look out my windows and can see Church street a block away. I keep trying to remember the names of the folks who's homes are gone now and replaced by apartments or turned into a business.
Lou was a class act on and off the field. And he slid into base feet first, unlike Henderson and pretty much every thief after him.
And don't forget the Brockabrella! He didn't invent it but marketed his own version.
