Lou Redd won't be down for Breakfast!

"Lou Reed, whose band the Velvet Underground became one of the most influential in rock by fusing art and music in 1960s' "

Really???? Let's face it, the guy never sang; he just talked. I still like to hear "Dirty Boulevard" when it does get airplay, but I grew tired of "Take a walk on the wild side" a couple decades ago. No great loss to the music industry, but RIP anyway.

Your an *** and always have to say something negative. Lou Reed did more than two songs. Try having a clue before you start spouting off.

Sorry, I left out "Sweet Jane", but I still stand by my comments above.

Richard Richard Richard....You normally keep the majority of us engrossed, amused, and for the most part entertained. But I have to side with those that have responded to your post about your dislike for Lou Reed. That is your prerogative. Most of us however, have a fond memory and enjoyment of his music. I do not then include you in that statement. If you cannot say something nice about someone's passing then keep your "DAMN" mouth shut. It isn't very becoming and really shows us here on FBBO exactly what kind of "Dick Head" you are. Your Avatar is so appropriate. :icon_fU: Be civil and have respect. If you cannot then as I said put a F**KIN" sock in it and cease from the cheap and distasteful comments. Moving on....Lou was a classic and paved the way for quite a lot of bands that produced music in his fashion. One that comes to mind is Billy Idol. He will be missed...RIP...cr8crshr/Tuck

I never said that I disliked him, but to say that he was "one of the most influential in rock" is more than a bit of a stretch.

After hearing this news on the radio I also learned that Ahmet Zappa had mixed emotions on Reed's death because he said "Reed was never nice to my dad" or something to that effect. Seems the Richard Cranium award might in stead go to.....

Anyway, I'm not judging; just reporting what I heard. Lou Reed never did much for me but I wish him to RIP. Never good when we loose another veteran musician.

OK................Your point is well taken. Read this article that might explain his contributions to what Rock n Roll is today. Quite a stellar resume I would say. Perhaps Richard you will agree after reading it. If not then I understand now where you are coming from. No hard feelings I hope????

This just about sums up that obit......

"merged primitivism with sophisticated avant-garde ideas; Beat literature; Reed's songs put society's misfits, outcasts and pariahs at the center; embraced by Andy Warhol; championed by a new wave of bands out of England and New York, including the New York Dolls, Sex Pistols and Patti Smith"

Come to think of it, Yoko Ono is also considered avant-garde.

Anyway, 71 is too young to die, even for a bisexual.

My favorite Lou Reed quote:

"One chord is fine. Two chords are pushing it. Three chords and you're into jazz."

You are an idiot sometimes ******** and this is one of them. He was very influential to a lot of people as well as changed the music scene. You are an ignorant ***. Yes his music was more for the underground crowd. Maybe you need to get out more and not live in the small orifice of your anus. Just because you only ever heard 3 songs on the top 40 radio station you listen to doesn't define his work.
He will be missed in the industry and already is... You have a Justin Bieber tattoo on your *** don't you. Lou Reed vs Bieber ... I'll take Lou Reed thank you.

Sorry I'm a little hung over this morning and a bit edgy...LOL BUT Dicky... he was a lot more than you give him credit for

Jeez, you'd think I just insuted your mother?!?!?!? All I've done is give my own personal opinion about a guy whose name was more known than the music he made, but check out post #15 if you want to get more pissed off.

Now, are we going to hear wining about how influential Iggy Pop & the Stooges or Bob Geldoff and the Boomtown Rats were when their time comes, because that's how I feel about 'Ol Dead Lou.

Speaking of influential; it's about time that someone here give me some kudos for introducing this forum to "won't be down for breakfast" threads? It sure seems to have caught on here pretty well. :headbang:

Now play nice boys...LOL... It's just an opinion, everyone's entitled to his/her own... even "the influential" RC/DH... I was never a big Lou Reed guy either, but he died too young & He did have a few good tunes thou... not like he's Elvis or the Beatles thou...
