Lou Redd won't be down for Breakfast!

Basically, Justin Bieber is to girls what Donny Osmond was forty years ago.

Yeah but Donny Osmond wasn't as obnoxious as Justin Bieber in his personal life and running his mouth off all the time.

Leif Garret; now there was a no-talent manufactured teen idol who turned into an adult train wreck.

In fact, William Shatner sang a song about him.....

"New York legend, who helped shape nearly fifty years of rock music"
Rolling Stone

I think this is part of the 'problem' for some of us. Music used to be a lot more regionalized than it is now. Growing up in the 60's and 70's in the Midwest, we had very little exposure to what was happening in NY. A lot of the bands that were 'hot' in the east were unknown in the Midwest and a lot of the music we listened to was not cool on the east coast. (Remember, this was an age of AM radio. Out of region exposure to different music came through stations like KAAY and WLS at night) Most of us know Lou only through a few songs and were certainly not part of the culture that grew up listening to or liking bands like the Underground, Ramones, TV or other bands from NY.

As I got older and learned more about R&R, I came to appreciate where VU fit in the grand scheme of things but a fan??? ....no.

So.....'hugely' influential? Not in my circle of music, friends or bands that I listened to but I'm sure he was in his part of the world.

I know he was important to some and I 'get it'...but not so much to me.

My $0.02

Speaking of influential; it's about time that someone here give me some kudos for introducing this forum to "won't be down for breakfast" threads? It sure seems to have caught on here pretty well. :headbang:

Sorry, RC, no kudos around here until you've had your last breakfast.

You guys put 'beating a dead horse' to a new level. :frozen tongue: no idea the relevance of that frozen going guy, but it's pretty cool.
