Lower control arm bushing removal

After pressing the attaching shaft out of the bushing, what is left of the old rubber bushing usually comes out with a screw driver.IF you are replacing with a OEM rubber bushing, the inner shell on the attaching shaft will loosen with a few strikes of a chisel. The outer shell in the control arm, I cut several grooves with a air hacksaw, then collapse the shell with a chisel till it pops out.Not fun, take your time.If using the poly leave the control arm shell in place. That's the best way I can describe it.

where are you in Wisc, I've done this a ton of times
thanks for the offer. I'm from Brown Deer Just a little to far. I took a pencil grinder and ground 2 groves down the side, then took chisel to it. Work well took about 15 min. thank you mike

Easiest by far is to weld a washer to the flange side of the outer shell. Flip the lca over and either press it out or use a think rod and hammer it out.

Sounds like you got the inner sleeve of with no problem, by far the easiest way to get the bushing out is to weld a washer to the bushing flange as threewood said, it doesn't have to look pretty, stick a bolt with a nut that will fit in the hole, comes out nice and easy with a good vise and hammer, if your vise is big enough you can get the new bushing and shaft back in, the best is a hydraulic press, good luck, and hey have fun...

Another option on getting the outer sleeve out...using a tap. Just have to use a tap sized that will only cut threads into the sleeve itself. Once tap is threaded in...use the press.
